The MOW Puro Authentico
Braving the cold for this one, its 39 degrees and cloudly with a slight breeze but I just got 3 of these in yesterday in a trade with Troller and I figured itd be a great quick smoke for a day like this
Prelight aroma- barnyard and chocolate
Appearence- Chocolate brown wrapper, some medium sized veins. I love cigars with a closed foot and pigtail so thats a big plus in my book. Feels extremly firm, not a soft spot to speak of.
First Third: Some pepper but nothing overwhelming, just enough to make things interesting. Otherwise Im getting a lot of chocolate and a very earthy characterisitc. Its producing a ton of smoke and has a very nice draw. This corona has a serious nic kick for its size. The ash falls off easily and the burn is a bit wavy but nothing that requires a touchup.
Second Third: Flavors are changing a bit, getting more of that classic nicaraguan tobacco flavor. I like to describe it as burnt popcorn, it tastes much better than it sounds. The pepper is picking up a bit but still nothing over the top, its a nice compliment to the sweet notes the Puro gives off. The chocolate seems more like a mocha-ish/coffee flavor now. It really coats the palette and lingers long after puffing. Ash is very flakey not lasting anymore than a quarter of an inch before flaking off.
Final Third: Something that has suprised me is how cool and slow this cigar burns, 50 minutes in and Im just reaching the final third and there is no bite or heat to speak of. This is a bad little cigar going into the final third the flavors are picking up and the strength is way up there. We're talking LFD DL power here and Im loving every second of it. The coffee flavor is in the foreground with that spice still hitting with every puff. Its been a rotating act between 3 flavors much like the Ruination does. This is a very impressive cigar.
Final Thoughts: Is it better than the Ruination? Ill let you know after I try a Ruination Corona, but I will say I prefer the Authentico over the larger RG Ruinations Ive smoked. But I have a feeling the Ruination is going to possibly be the superior cigar since I feel it is more balanced and not quite as full bodied. And I think all of that is going to come through in spades for the Ruination in the Corona size compared to its 54 RG and up brothers.
Would I buy it again? Absolutly
Do I recommend it? Not to the new guys but if youre a fan of strong nic puros this is a must try.
And last but not least a pic of me finishing her off as I typed the last bit of my review
