Construction: Beautiful. The Ruination is draped in a reddish-brown wrapper with no veins. It's sleek and oily.
The Man O' War Ruination is dense as hell. It feels like a brick it's so heavy.
It featured an even burn even though it had a large ring gauge and never required a touch up.
The prelight flavor was that of spicey tobacco.
1/3: Right off the bat the cigar is filled with an earthy flavor and black pepper. It's strong. Very strong. It's a kick to the back of the throat.
The draw was a little tough in the first third. You really had to puff it to get it going.
2/3: Here's where the cigar really takes off. The Ruination's draw opens up and it starts letting off more smoke. It's not a huge amount, but it's a good amount.
The burn is good -- not razor sharp -- but good. The ash stays on for about an inch and a half before falling off.
The flavors are definitely earthy and leathery at this point. The black pepper is gone but it still has a nice spice on the finish.
3/3: The earthiness is in full force here. There was still a bit of spice on the finish. But not much of a change from the second third.
Overall: The Man O' War Ruination is a good cigar. It has wonderful flavors of earth and pepper, with some spice on the finish.
It's a strong cigar. Definitely one of the strongest I've smoked. It kicks you in the back of the throat with each draw.
The construction is wonderful and the burn is also very good. The only problem with it is the price. It's a good cigar, but I don't think it's worth the price. If you can get it cheaper in a bundle or something, then go for it. But don't pay the retail price.
