  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Construction: Beautiful. The Ruination is draped in a reddish-brown wrapper with no veins. It's sleek and oily.

The Man O' War Ruination is dense as hell. It feels like a brick it's so heavy.

It featured an even burn even though it had a large ring gauge and never required a touch up.

The prelight flavor was that of spicey tobacco.

1/3: Right off the bat the cigar is filled with an earthy flavor and black pepper. It's strong. Very strong. It's a kick to the back of the throat.

The draw was a little tough in the first third. You really had to puff it to get it going.

2/3: Here's where the cigar really takes off. The Ruination's draw opens up and it starts letting off more smoke. It's not a huge amount, but it's a good amount.

The burn is good -- not razor sharp -- but good. The ash stays on for about an inch and a half before falling off.

The flavors are definitely earthy and leathery at this point. The black pepper is gone but it still has a nice spice on the finish.

3/3: The earthiness is in full force here. There was still a bit of spice on the finish. But not much of a change from the second third.

Overall: The Man O' War Ruination is a good cigar. It has wonderful flavors of earth and pepper, with some spice on the finish.

It's a strong cigar. Definitely one of the strongest I've smoked. It kicks you in the back of the throat with each draw.

The construction is wonderful and the burn is also very good. The only problem with it is the price. It's a good cigar, but I don't think it's worth the price. If you can get it cheaper in a bundle or something, then go for it. But don't pay the retail price.

Thanks for the review bro. I'm not a huge fan of the Man of War, but based on your review I'll give this one a try.

I'm also not a huge fan of the regular Man O' War line. They weren't very complex. Well, neither is the Ruination, but the flavors are pretty nice.

I like the regular line. These sound like they'd be good to grab on a Joe deal. Thanks for the review.

Yeah, if you can grab them in a deal, do it. I just don't think they're worth the $11-13 price tag at retail stores. Certain cigars are worth that, but not these.

More people to bid against me on these on the Devil Site now! :devilhead I love these! The regular Man O Wars do not even compare to these. These are definantly worth getting.

Thank you for the review. I've only smoked two Man O' War sticks, they were both Salomones (from the CI Summertime Salomones Sampler). I liked them...and the price was right (cheap, as part of that sampler).
