I recently scored a fiver of these little guys. They are from the early 1950's. As I took it out the first thing I noticed was the dark tint of orange & yellow on the cello. Not prettiest cigar upon inspection. The wrapper was rough & it has a slight box press shape. It smelt like sweet tobacco & honey. The clip & pre-draw were perfect. I picked up a light grassy taste that gave way to a sweet floral flavor. I can't place what it was & it's bothering me. A sweet taste that lingered on the back of the tongue on exhale. Mid way I got a quick blast of pepper. Wow! Where did that come from? I've never had that in any vintage smoke before. It only lasted for a few puffs. As it burned its way down it mellowed out & the sweetness intensified just a hair. The smoke was light & airy. The ash was light grey & flaky. I smoked this bad boy until it was a nub. I have a nice little burn on my finger tip from it. I was sad to let this one go, but glad I can enjoy another one soon. With every puff I thought about the time when this cigar was made. My how the times have changed in the past sixty years.
