  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Appearance and Prelight: 8/10- First, I will just say this: This cigar got a lot of hype from everybody doing SOTM. The wrapper gave off a different taste of molasses and coffee. It was a very thin wrapper, as well as tan. It was absent of any veins. I decided to cut this one instead of punch it because it would’ve been difficult to cut and I didn’t want to potentially ruin my SOTM. The Prelight gave off an aroma of Cinnamon and more of the coffee from before.

Flavor and Notes: 6/10- This cigar got a lot of hype from everybody doing SOTM. It didn’t fit my flavor profile, personally; Nonetheless, I nubbed it to be fair to our SOTM program. The stick was not bad by any means, just not for me. The first several draws were much like the prelight: cinnamon and some salty coffee notes. The cinnamon quickly lightened out and in came some molasses tones upon exhale. There was also a black-like salty coffee taste as well. The coffee outlasts the first third and sets up shop until the end of the cigar. In the second third, the salt and bitterness went away and in came a building spice. This balanced out the cigar very well I thought. The only really cool flavor about this stick in my opinion was the cinnamon, which came back into play near the end of the smoke for a nice finish. The last third was definitely my favorite part of the smoke.

Burn/Ash/Draw: 8/10- The ash had a yellow hue to it. Not sure why, most likely something in the particular leaf that was used. It burned even, which was good but it had a very tight and unpleasant draw. Not my favorite, but it’s all about what you like! Thanks for reading and thanks for participating in SOTM!!!

I've been wondering if anyone had posted a review on this stick for the SOTM. I hadn't seen it (must have overlooked it somehow :scratchhe) so I had to search. Nice review, I hope to have mine posted by the end of the week.

Nice review! Love the entire hemingway line, total classics and have stood the test of time IMHO.
Nice review brother!
Alot of guys here feel the same way about AF however I find them hit or miss. Maybe I need to let them rest before I smoke them. Had a Queen B and didn't care for it and I know alot of guys here love it. Maybe rest is the key to AF...Dunno

Had my Hemingway last night. I smoked a Short Story. I've heard good things about the Hemingway line so I was looking forward to this one. Cut clean and prelight smell was that of aged tobacco. Draw was perfect. The burn was a little off at first and it took it a little to get going. Some of it may have been my fault, I may not have gotten a good light before I started into it. Once it got going though it was pretty good. It didn't rock my world, but was a decent cigar. Aged tobacco with a slight coffee hint to it prevailed. Had a slight peppery finish, especially when exhaled thought the nose. Not much change in the flavors, was consistent throughout (but a good consistent). It started to get a little hot towards the last 1/3 and it took some work keeping it going. I ended up just letting it go out as I had other cigars to smoke. Overall it was a nice smoke, but nothing special to me. I would consider trying other vitolas in the Hemingway line and probably another Short Story, but there are other cigars in my humi that I would grab first.

Wow! This month flew by. I chose to enjoy a WOAM for this month's SOTM.

Really nice smoke. Sweet and smooth.

A little way in and it hasn't changed. Wonderful!

Halfway point. One side stopped burning, but after a touch-up, we're back in business.

It was a very enjoyable cigar. I really like these. A little shop in Jackson, TN carries them and I pick one up whenever I have to travel for work.
