  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

This Saturday, we're having our monthly dinner & game night. I'm going with a Mardi Gras theme, this month. I am working on the menu, now. So far it looks like this:

Appetizers
I think someone is bringing a bacon coated cheeseball
fried crawfish tails

Mains
chicken & andouille jambalaya
shrimp po' boys

Sides
hushpuppies
black-eyed peas w/bacon
dirty rice

my first attempt at a King Cake for dessert

Drinks including, but not limited to, hurricanes and Abita beer selection! Thought about mixing up some Sazeracs, but didn't know if it would be worth it with the lack of people interested in drinking them.

This is all subject to change. I'm expecting a total of about 12 adults, this month.

There will be pics and more about it on my blog.... (shameless plug, but I don't have any ads on my blog, so no gain for me)

Doubt you can find it but when I was down there in November I couldn't get enough of cajun bloody marys and gator bites.

I actually think there is a store in town that has alligator in the freezer section. If not, I do know a local restaurant that has gator bites. Thought about calling them to wheel and deal. LOL

Grilled gator bites maybe with a dusting of any rub you like, served with a mayo/kethcup/mustard style sauce.

All this talk of gator bites makes me think we'll have to do a wild game night sometime. Squirrel, frog legs, maybe some raccoon .

Cajun may be my favorite food Ribby. Love it, this has me thinking of opening up my gumbo shop cook book this weekend.

Had cajun last night. Fried gator bites, home made boudin link, BBQ black peppercorn shrimp and a couple of Abita pecan harvest ales. Great stuff.

I just decorated Justy for Mardi Gras (she'll flash you for a donation to Live Free Springfield) and am now craving red beans and rice - I think I'll need to make a batch. That's much easier to share with the gang here
