  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I too was sent a couple sticks by Mel at MBombay. Mucho appreciated Mel and glad i could participate. I think your strategy of getting the word out is great and personally i feel pretty darn cool knowing a manufacturer sent me sticks personally to review, not sure about anybody else:)

Here are the stats of stick #1

An impressive looking creation IMO. Shaggy foot is different but toro size is my wheelhouse. I have always been attracted to these bands since i think they look great. Ive had these on a couple MaW lists but to no avail so my guess is they just arent getting bought enough. Hopefully, if these are as good as they look then some of us can change that!

Prelight: smell doesnt really ever present anything to me. although im a chronic retrohaler, i just dont ever pick up much by smelling a stick. Stick is firm throughout and once clipped, it has an easy draw with a slightly sweet taste

First impressions: Due to the shaggy foot, it takes a few for the wrapper to get involved. Once it does a creamy sweetness is added. Not much spice. More of a creamy saltiness if anything to describe it.

First third: The creamy sweetness is dominant. Almost a honey flavor in the background with a richness up front. Unique to me. Burning great and smoke production is high like i like it. The sweetness has almost a root beer quality. Its tasty but not something im used to. First third ends with a slight tough up that can probably be blamed on the humid post-rainy night. Not uneven burn, just a touch of flame to pick up.

Second Third: Sweetness has evolved into a strawberry? Its mellow, smooth, creamy and sweet. Burn is great. Ash holding over an inch. Great smoke production. Reminds me a bit of the Tat 7th capa especial with the sumatra wrapper but more sweetness.

Final Third: Ill say, the construciton has been impressive. Straight line, great burn, good smoke production the whole way. The flavor hasnt changed much throughout but it is a medium minus cigar with a lot of creamy sweetness. The final third starts and ends the same way.

Overall: Nice sweetness throughout. Perfect burn. lacked complexity. Overall enjoyable but not mind blowing yet a very unique flavor experience.

Thank you again @mel-mbombay

Just noticed it's aged in sandalwood as well as cedar. Is that unique, or does anyone know of another cigar aged similarly? Does that impart any of the flavors you are picking up?

The wrapper leaves for this blend are aged 6-9 months in hybrid Sandalwood/Spanish Cedar coffins... truly unique in the Industry. :)
