  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

This particular brand and I just aren't getting along. Both the Frog Morton Cellar and Across the Pond have been giving me issues staying lit. Which is a shame as I particularly enjoy the Cellar, but the constant attention is taking away from the experience. I am still quite new to the hobby. However, I've been able to get through quite a few bowls of different Dunhill blends recently with only 1 or 2 relights. Same for local blends from Straus, one from Stokkebye, and I've even had good luck with Gaslight. McClelland...not so much. Generally I use either the 3-step or German method to pack. Are there any other techniques/tips/tricks out there that could help with this issue? Am I alone in fighting this cut?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I'd say what Zack posted above is most likely the problem.

And I don't think re-lights are an issue either. I have times where I need 1 or 2 re-lights and some cases 5-6 re-lights maybe more.

Remember, you can always re-pack the bowl of your pipe too if something doesn't feel right. I've done it before....
