  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Well, I got turned onto Laphroaig 10 year at a Scotch flight with dinner a few weeks ago and I must say that it really hit me...definitely seemed to be a "cigar lover's scotch." Last Tuesday FrankN and I were at a local watering hole and he treated me to a glass of Laphroaig...I savored the snifter (neat, of course) over the course of two hours....WOW, it was GREAT! Paired it with a Punch Double Maduro Rothchild, awesome!

Well, I decided it was time to buy my first bottle of Scotch (I've been more of a vodka drinker). So, here it is:

Laphroaig Cask Strength

The clerk at the liquor store didn't have any snifters for sale but he threw in two Courvoisier snifters (free is good!). I'll let you know when I crack the seal, timing wasn't right this past weekend.

Probably my absolute favorite! But, for the uninitiated, be careful as there are some on this board who believe Laphroaig should come with a skull & crossbones on the label. . .:rolling: This is not a "puffy" scotch. The best of the Islay malts is probably Lagavulin. Give it a try sometime.

That bottle is a superior scotch for the money... The Laphy QC won best scotch a few years back at the Chicago whiskey fest. I seriously love that Laphy Cask Strength you can really taste the stewed apples in there and some caramel undertones... That shit fucked me up one night I fell in the shower when I was taking a piss, STRONG SHIT!

If you like that one I would try the Ardbeg Nam Beist, that's a cask strength and is also an Islay which to me has some of the most interesting character of the scotches i.e. Salty, Briney, Peaty, Smokey, and then just some amazing whiskey notes!
