  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Alright BOTL, here's the skinny. This is my first review ever of anything.. ever. EVER!! I don't get the whole fresh tennis ball thing (watch SOMM on Netflix if you don't get the reference) , so bear with me here. I'ma make this short and sweet.

Cigar: Ashton VSG
Size: Does it really matter? They're all effing amazing!
Time Smoked: 2.15 hours Seriously?!?! YES!
Paird with: Elijah Craig 12 yr, Stella Atois, Basil Hayden's Bourbon

Cold Draw: This thing was incredible.. immaculate even. Almost as if God were to say in Genesis, "Let there be CIGARS!" this is what he would have spoken into existence! Seriously though, this VSG left a very sweet creamy cedariness. It even lingered after I removed the cigar from my lips.

First Third: This cigar is the single handed reason why I smoke cigars today. This was one of the first "premium" cigars I ever smoked 10 years ago, and it's as good as it ever was. I don't have any clue the age on this one all I know is it was fantastic! Creamy sweet smoke. Lots of cream. Lots of sweet. Throw a little cedar in there and it's the perfect combo. I was drinking Elijah Craig during this time and it was a perfect combo.

2nd Third: SAME AS THE FIRST!! It was incredible! I slipped away in memories of times past, thinking about all the terrific cigars I have smoked and why I hadn't smoked more of these delicious treats. Seriously, I have about 7 of these in my humi (a couple thanks to that madman @ZippoGeek ) and I can't wait to light the net one up. The flavor profile was extremely consistent. Literally no pepper on the retro, just sweet sweet creamy cedary smoke. Get you some!

Final Third: WHAT DO YOU THINK?!?!?! Same as the first 2! Seriously, it has been a long time since I had a cigar that was this good. More sweetness. More cream. More cedar!

Final thoughts: You absolutely, positively cannot go wrong with an Ashton VSG. If ever find yourself wondering aimlessly down the dark corridors of our local B&M with no clue what to select, do yourself a HUGE favor and grab on of these guys. This is probably one of the most consistent cigars I've ever smoked, and I don't just mean the one I had last night. Continually throughout the years I have had numerous VSG's and they are all the same. I've never been disappointed.

I hope you enjoyed!

Great Review!!
The other day I had a VSG Belicoso that I have had aging in my Wino for about a year. OMG, they are great ROTT, but they are amazing with some age. The VSG was my first "Favorite" and continues to be a treat. I prefer it to not be an every week cigar as I find that grabbing one on occation allows me to really appreciate it.
