Ok, here's a few opinions of some of the new stuff i have tried recently:
La Aroma de Cuba (new Pepin Blend) - I expected a stronger cigar than I got from Pepin on this one. The CBL wrapper was very toothy and quite nice looking, bu tthe cigar had no real flavor. It lacked depth, but thankfully did not have the Pepin bite. i would compare it to a FdO maduro at twice the price.
Mucielago by Espinosa y Ortega - I was actually excited about this for some reason, mostly due to the fact that they use a Mexican wrapper. The first third of the cigar was strong and pungent, the smoke made my eyes water. As I muscled through the rest of the cigar, it started to develop that quintessential Mexican "muddy mustiness" and ended up tasting like a Te-Amo at the end. Too young in my opinion.
Room 101 Cigars - this is a cigar made by Camacho and has been getting some good press. i smoked the torpedo and it reminded me of something between a Camacho Corojo and a Camacho 10th Anni - not as strong as a Corojo and not as smooth as a 10th Anni. But it wasn't bad. It's been a while since I had a Camacho, and maybe it was a factor of "seeing that long lost friend again". I've always like the Honduran Corojo flavor profile, but their construction has always been all over the place. But this burned well, tasted good and had a great finish.
La Traviata by CAO - certainly this was the cigar that I had the lowest expectations for. But, it surprised me. It wasn't a great cigar, but it was pretty good for about 5 bucks. it was medium bodied with a leathery tobacco flavor. Not very complex, but enjoyable.
