  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

My new air scrubber for the man cav.....who am I kidding, the garage.
Perforated metal powder coated by a fellow BOTL attatched to a 6" inline fan. In between the outer layer of perforated metal, and inner, there is a 1.5" layer of activated carbon to remove the smoke from the air. Just shy of 10 lb's of carbon.

Yes, like stated above, there are many different kinds that you can pick up from grow-op stores and the like. I have a need to go the long, hard route, and then kick myself later for not just buying something instead of try to make it.
The fan draws less than 1 A. That is the beauty of this setup, the fan is good for high static, but draws very efficiently.

This is a 6 x 14" canister sized filter. You can buy them in all kinds of sizes and qualities. I just knew that I wanted something to remove the actual smoke/smell from the air, and carbon is the only thing that will actually do it. The absolute best way to keep your room/smoking area as odorless as possible is to exhaust all the air, and have a good amount of air exchange happening. This works well when you don't live in an inhospitable environment that remains below freezing for at least 4 months a year. If I were to exhaust the air in the garage, then heat the same amount of air I am bringing in, it would cost me a fortune to bring that outside air up to temp for the 1.5-3 hours that I normally smoke for, so I scrub the air.
You can purchase the carbon online very easily actually. Like I said, I bought 10 lb's of carbon, and it filled that filter, plus I had a little bit left over. It actually worked out pretty damn close, I was surprised.
