Well I told myself that if I was ever to get my hands on another Frank that I would write a review on it. To not only share on how they are burning...but also to make sure that I was giving it the time and the attention that it truly needed to be smoked. I have had the pleasure of smoking a few of these before but always chose poor timing for it. So here we go!
Here is a little bit of background on the Tatuaje Frank (little info from a nice write up from CA):
This years release (2008) is the Tatuaje Frank, a 7 5/8 inch by 49 ring cigar whose large construction alludes to the Frankenstein creature played on-screen in 1931 by Boris Karloff. Like Frankensteins head, the cigar is blocky and box pressed. The wrapper is stitchy and the band around the cigar is a corpse-like shade of green. Frank comes in a numbered coffin-shaped box of 13 and will retail for $13 per stick
Prelight:
This is a cigar that truly lives up to the Monster reputation. With a towering figure of 7 5/8" and it's dark-brown wrapper with evil green and black wrapper. I actually was worried about my other cigars when I put this mean mug into it...little scary for them. The wrapper has minimal veins and just a couple blemishes which normally would be flaws...but really just make this cigar look even meaner. The pre-light draw was a bit sweat with the faint tastes of tobacco with spice.
1/3:
When I lit the frank and took my first few puffs I expected to be kit with the trademark Pete/Pepin blast of spice that I have come to know with the frank. This time it was there but not as much as I thought. It is more well defined black pepper taste. Even though it is not overpowering...I can actually taste it all the way up into my sinus cavity. Underneath the spice you can taste a bit of sweetness in the tobacco. A nice citrus sweet. As I continue to smoke the sweetness turns from a citrus to a dark mocha chocolate. The ash held strong till the end of the 1/3 and then fell off in one big chunk
2/3:
The cigar still has the chocolate taste but has gone from dark spicy chocolate to little more of a milk chocolate. There is still bits of spice here and there but for the most part it has died off. There is also a bit of a nutty nausense to the cigar at this point to. Almost like an almond or walnut. There is a slight bitterness that comes with this flavor but it is not taking away from the cigars personality.
3/3:
Chocolate is still present with the nutty aftertones. The spice has picked up a bit again! This cigar is just rounding out to be such a great cigar. I am not going to lie...they lost a bit of spice with the time. But with that they picked up more citrus and chocolate notes that I do not remember from before.
Overall this was an amazing cigar! I just love these delicious sticks! The overall burn time was actually over 2 hours!!! what a great cigar!
So my only problem about this is that this is the end and it was way to good
So this is now officially a ISO/WTB thread
You got a box you want to sell LOL!!!!
Thanks for reading!!! Nick
