  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

My Father Le Bijou Toro 6x54 Price $11

Wrapper: Nicaraguan Habano Oscuro (Pelo de Oro)
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Nicaraguan
Size: Toro 6x54
Price: $11.00

Appearance and Construction
This is yet another beautifully constructed cigar from Pepin. It sports a rich dark brown, almost black wrapper. There are small veins spread throughout, and the wrapper has a rough texture to it. The whole stick is firm and there isn't a single soft spot. The Le Bijou is double banded with colorful yet attractive bands. The 1st is the original My Father band and the second distinguishes this as the Le Bijou 1922. Can't wait to light this guy up...

Burn - Ash - Draw
The burn on this was uneven for the most part. Waviness would come and go, it required two touch-ups, but for the most part corrected itself. The ash was a light gray that held for 1-1/2'' before I coarsed it off. After the light the draw was loose and produced a TON of smoke absolutely effortlessly. It may have been a bit to loose but I have no complaints.

Flavor & Notes
Right away there is a creamy smooth mocha with earth tones. There was a small shot of spice that hit the sinuses hard, but nothing compared to most Pepin's. The spice quick mellowed and stick stayed true to a smooth sweetness, through the first third. As the second third begins a woodsy cedar/oak earth tone picks up. Still left with a sweet and spicy finish. Through the whole second third the cigar there was just a great smoothness with rich flavors where a leather came in and out of play. Into the final third (unfortunately) the spice is still present, but just ever so slightly. Main flavor is a creamy wood, seems like a cedar-oak, with a subtle sweetness in the finish.

Overall
I can't say enough good things about this Le Bijou. It was a very smooth smoke with complex, and ever changing flavors. Without a doubt I will be smoking this again, it is just a question of how soon. I recommend everyone to try these, the only downside to the cigar was putting it down. I nubbed it under an inch, and it smoked for a little less than 1:45.

Sounds great...might need to put propane in the torch then. Haha!

I've been looking up more about this brand, thanks for pointing these guys to me.

Great Review Chris! IMHO i think the petite robusto is
about the equivalent of a "Nub" for this particular
cigar. Full all the way through, with great flavor....
