My Latest Project - Cigarbox Ashtray Pedistal

First of all, thanks to Brandon at Fumar for the extra boxes...

I saw one of these in the lounge at my local B&M and was inspire to make one for myself...simple to do. Only materials required are empty cigar boxes and wood glue.

It's even got built in storage for lighters/cutters/etc...

Cool idea! If I were you I would put something pretty heavy in the bottom, I would even consider some kind of metal plate at the bottom. A top heavy ashtray stand sounds like a messy carpet eventually!

Yeah, there's some weight in the bottom box, but it's actually very sturdy...

Ashtray is not secured...just sits on top so it can be emptied easily

You may want to use a little velcro tape to secure it - just in case it gets bumped - and it's still easily removeable for dumping. Just a thought. Looks great!

We have a ton of these in the store, nicely done man! What we do with ours is take the lid off of the top box so the ashtray sits down in the box and the sides of the box keep it from being slid off accidentally and breaking. Might want to try that!

Hmm I might do something like this for the shop where I work. We have plenty of ashtrays but some of them kind of suck and well we have plenty of boxes if I save some good ones here and there.

I let guests make them and then we use them here. When they get ratty after 6 months of use, we have new ones made. Just kind of fun to see what people will do with them!
