  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Well after my third attempt I finelly got my cutter from Xikar that somewhat resembles it's on-line photo. My wife baught me this cutter for Christmas but when I openned it, it looked nothing at all like it's photo online. In fact it looked like just plain ol dark carmely wood. No swirls or distinct swirls that attracted me to it in the first place. So I called Xikar and told them the issue and they said send it in for replacement. A month and a half later when they got more stock in, I finelly got my replacement. THIS one was as bad as the first and in fact had a ugly yellow knot in the wood that completely made the cutter look horrible and the wood again was just a plain color. I called Xikar once again and asked them if they had someone to inspect there packages befor they go out and was told they would again do there best for me. I want to make it clear that Xikar was completely friendly and nice over the phone. I understand that all wood grains are different and very rarely do you get what's pictured when it comes to any item pictured. I simply just asked them to try again and if it was something they couldn't get that I understood. This replacement took about two weeks and this time I'm very pleased with what was sent.
In the photo I left the protective film on the metal so you can see the name of the cutter. This might make it look dull in color but once I removed it was very shiny and just beatifull.
Again I want to give a big thank you to Xikar for outstanding customer service. Hope you all like my new cutter!

Very slick cutter, ciggy.

I also own a Xikar cutter and love it. The nice thing about the Xikar is you can take the cutter to any Xikar dealer and trade it for a new one if it's damaged.

Hell yes, Amboina!

I guess I got lucky, cause my first Amboina looks nice... They'll never look like the online one - That one was taken by a good photographer with a good light-box. The lightbox brings out a lot more depth to the wood grain

The cutters are fantastic though

Nice looking cutter. Now let's just hope it cuts as good as it looks.
I've had two (Xi1 & Xi2) both cut just great. I have full confidence in Xikar Cutters. If I mess a cut up it's my fault and not the cutter. However I will say this...when they get dull, which happens in time, you can send to Xikar for sevice...Free!

As a Xikar ho, my favorite wooden one is the amboina... and I have seen some weak patterned ones in my travels. The one you finally got looks way better than most I have seen. Gotta give you props for your tenacity and Xikar props for making it right.
It's all good....

Wow, Ciggy:
1) That cutter looks beautiful
2) Way to stick with it and keep forcing them to fix the problem ... these days so many people just walk away disappointing
3) Sounds like Xikar has great customer service! That's a pretty impressive story to me

I too love the look of natural look: grain, knots, swirls, etc. If I were buying this for the wood look, I too would be really disappointed it I received something that just looked "wood color" instead of actually looking like real wood.

I'd love to get a matching set of a cutter and a nice dual/triple torch lighter at some point.
