  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

My Uzi Weighs A Ton XXL (5 x 60)
Hey folks, thanks for following along on this wonderful journey of cigar culture with me! I'm here hoping your day is going as well as mine. That being said, let's get into the review of this great cigar!
This cigar is the collaborative creation of Drew Estate and Joya De Nicaragua, and boy, what a great result they've produced. The tobaccos hail from multiple countries of origin, but the majority components are Nicaraguan. First perception of this cigar- a big chocolate cylinder waiting to be devoured. A slightly toothy, dark chocolate-colored San Andres maduro wrapper does justice to my first impression of this cigar. The construction is near perfect with tight visible seems and a neat cap (double I believe). Scents from the foot of the cigar reveal hay, earth, and a slight cocoa. Earth, spice, and a sweet nuttiness are revealed from the pre-light draw. Now it's time to cut and toast this bad boy.
Instant spice reaches the back of my tongue at first light; earthiness trickles along with the warm, chunky draw smoke. The draw itself provides a fair resistance (which I'm sure is attested to the RH and Temperature levels in my humidor that need to be fixed) but does not pose an issue throughout the smoke. A steady flow of thick smoke from the foot provides a sweet and smoky aroma.
The flavors from the draw include sweet hints of chocolate and dense tobacco (assuming that's from the ligero itself). Slow smoking and smoldering of compact-yet slightly flaky-light grey ashes is how this stick presents itself. Woodiness darts in and out of the draw; possibly an oak flavor and hints of cedar. The spice is not overpowering, but it lingers in the back of the throat and washes over the palate along with a chocolatey sweetness teasing the lips.
This cigar is a taste sampler of many flavors darting in and out, teasing the palate. Woody smokiness dominates the retro-hale with a slight hint of pepper. There's a hint of a dried fruit flavor from the combined retro-hale and draw release. By the way, may I reiterate...THIS IS A SLOW-BURNING CIGAR.
I've found the dried fruit flavor to be reminiscent of raisins. Warm spice darts in and out as I'm only halfway thru the first third. Quite an extensive arrangement of flavors, and this cigar is just beginning!
Flavors mingle about and the chocolate and earthy spice stick out most at the present moment. The ash continues to hold well, that is until I start thinking too hard and let the stick slip from my loose lips. No harm but a little ash falling; moving on from this "Ass Moment".
Chocolate flows thru my nose, alongside the other well established retro-hale flavors, leaving me in complete bliss for a moment. The finish is medium in length lasting almost until the next draw, however, the sweet flavors dancing on my lips continues relentlessly. From the last few puffs approaching the second third, between the wood-smoke retro hale and the chocolatey (now creamy as well) draw, I am almost tricked into thinking I'm enjoying a cup of hot chocolate. The spice is falling into the background, but the warm, thickness of the smoke continues to be apparent.
Cream. Chocolate. Heavy Woodiness. Those are the primary flavors as the second third approaches. Heavy tobacco hints flow into the draw smoke; chocolate meanders around in the finish; woody smoke continues to lead the charge thru the retro-hale.
All of these wonderful flavors being to mingle and mesh together in a symphony of taste and enjoyment. The raisin hints return to mix with the chocolate pleasing my palate. I definitely enjoy a box of Raisinets, but this is just outstanding!
The full out chocolate simmers down to become a base cocoa flavor as cream and coffee dart back and forth teasing my tongue. The retro-hale smoke has become thick, meaty, and chunky with a smooth emission from the nose, yet still retaining its smokiness.
The burn line is quite even, as it has been from the start of the cigar. Earthiness darts in and out of the draw in small doses. The chocolate-covered raisins taste continues. The finish is still medium in length.
Approaching the final third, a sweet cedar note slides into the line of flavors as a large chunk of ash falls into my lap (about 3/4 of an inch). Chocolate/cocoa notes being to fade into the background as the warm spice creeps back into the flavor profile. The finish becomes dry and woody with the cocoa hints floating about. A little hay sneaks its way into the draw with the continued chocolate, wood, spice, and slight creaminess. Flavors begin to swirl together as the final third becomes warm closing in on the nub. The finish accumulates a heavy dose of a cocoa-tobacco hybrid flavor and a hint of coffee.
This cigar has been a roller coaster of complex and full flavors, a great experience for a fresh reviewer like myself. A "Long Ashes" salute to JD and the Drew Estate Subculture Studios/Joya De Nicaragua crews for this amazing creation. A wonderful cigar from start to finish. This is a medium to full strength cigar (PLEASE eat before smoking!) with a full body of flavors to tease and appease your palates. Thank you all for reading another review; enjoy your day and enjoy your cigar!

My experiences with the MUWAT line up is based solely on the bait fish. Which have been very enjoyable. Seems like the others are just as tasty. Thanks for taking time to do the write-up.

Great review. I agree on almost every flavor you experienced! I did not get as much pepper in the beginning, but it could have been a number of reasons for the difference. Very descriptive review!
