  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

My el cheapo cutter has turned into more of a smasher. Any thoughts or recommendations on a new cutter in the $40 or less range?

Any of the Xikar line cutters are the best. They stand behind their products 110% and the customer service is on point. Check out amazon, Cigars International, Famous Smoke or any of the other retailers as well. I'm sure they have deals on Xikar products. I'd always recommend their products to friends. Yes their price is a bit much, but I rather see them pay a little more now and have the piece of mind knowing they have a quality product over something cheaper. Then down the road I find out they have to go back to buy another at a later time because something broke and not able to be repaired.

Thanks for the info, everyone. I'm liking the Xikar Xi2 and they can be had for reasonable prices.

In order of preference:

1. Xikar ZX Ultra-slim in Carbon Fiber - perfect cut every time, and thin enough to fit at the end of a 10ct Herfador or under the bottom foam of a 5ct Herfador. Never had a bad cut.

2. Xikar Xi3 - feels good in the hand, and a great cut every time.

3. Cuban Crafters Perfect Cutter - you won't find a better deal. Solid construction, lifetime guarantee, sharp blades, and very inexpensive.

I received a C.C. Perfecto cutter last week. Nice, heavy ground stainless steel... but none of the edges were eased properly. Dang near sliced my fingers all up, until I dug out the Dremel. Love it now.
