  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

So I went and played a real golf course this weekend and was told by the starter I needed to get real shoes if I ever wanted to play there again. And then the guys we paired up with were telling me that I would find that situation at a lot of courses. So I start looking around the net yesterday. I found a pair for $19.99 on Ebay with $12 shipping. So today I bid on them figuring "what the heck they'll do fine for now". Right, I'm new and don't need some GoreTex lined $165 dollar shoe or anything like that. So I won the auction, paid for the item, and decided to research the shoe a bit, just to see what they were worth and so on. I know a bit out of order there, but it worked out just fine. The shoes I bought are Etonic STGT. Turns out they are goretex lined, waterproof, a couple bells and whistles etc.. run normally for about $150, and are on sale right now all over the place for $135. yeah I got em for $32 shipped to my door. I friggin love Ebay sometimes.:blob::blob::blob::blob:

I'm not much for black but those look good on you, haha. Nice score there bro! Having the right shoes does make a difference.

Just be patient with with your game, start practicing at the green and work your way back and you'll improve quickly. A few lessons will benifit you more than playing a few rounds and cost about the same, especially if you are going to start playing regularly.

Oh yeah don't wear cargo shorts or muscle shirts either, hehe..

well I still suck at golf, but at least I'll look good doing it.:crosseyed
Nice shoes,,,did the guy on Ebay have more of these at that price? It doesn't matter how bad you suck at the game it's about the cigar, the day, who you golf with, the beer and if you are able to 'press' on any hole you choose to catch up? Par 3's are great for that!

If you think cigars are addictive and expensive you'd better brace yourself. It won't be long and all you'll be able to think about is how you can improve and how you can find the time and money to play more. And just wait til you ask yourself "I wonder if I quit my job and practiced all day if I could turn pro?"

Yes, like all sports we love it can get a bit expensive if you change out equipment every year or believe all the hype on every club that says it can shave strokes off your game. When I was at my best I played to a 2 handicap and thought I was the shyte until I got beat like a drum by a lady golf pro,,,very sad day which told me that I better keep my day job.:frownno:

You know you're screwed when you start playing $4 golf balls, they sink just as fast as the $.50 ones do.....

So Dave, let me get this straight; you bid, you win and then you do the research?

I had it ass backwards, probably explains why my 401k is now my 201k.
