  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Posting my first review on account of the newb scavenger hunt we've got going on. This is my review of a cigar I've never smoked.

First impressions: This cigar looks pretty good, a slightly smaller ring gauge then I prefer. The band is pretty unremarkable and, honestly, I probably wouldn't even notice this cigar in the B&M if I wasn't looking for it. It smells of sweet tobacco and I've heard good things so I'm looking forward to lighting it up.

I punched this cigar as my cheapie cutter has been causing my smokes to unravel lately.

1st third: Lots of spice right off the bat and some nice hints of coco and coffee. The draw is a little tighter than I prefer, not sure if that's normal or maybe it's tighter than it's supposed to be. The spice is a little strong for my taste, although I know a lot of people like the pepper bombs that have been popping up as of late.

2nd third: The spice is dying down a bit which is nice. The coco flavors are also dying down a bit which is disappointing. Now I'm getting more earthy flavors, some cedar and overall I'm enjoying this cigar.

Last 3rd: The spice remains, although at this point it's at a pretty good level. I can't taste any more coco. The prominent flavors at this point are earth and something I just refer to as tobacco flavors, I'm not sure how else to describe it. I'm still enjoying this cigar. Then at the last few puffs, I start getting a fairly prominent sweet flavor, not quite coco, I can't put my finger on it but it's very enjoyable. Unfortunately it started getting a bit too hot and I decided this baby was done.

Final thoughts: It was a bit too peppery for me during the first third and the ash was pretty weak and flaky throughout which sucks when you'e smoking indoors like I was. However, overall I really liked this cigar and it burned pretty damn evenly throughout, requiring no touch ups. I have a couple more as I bought 3 of them a month or 2 ago and I'll definitely be smoking them but I couldn't imagine buying a box of these.

I took 4 pictures, however, a couple are stuck in my outbox on my phone for some reason so I just uploaded the 2 that went through.

The one common thing I've read and that I've experienced myself is the draw being tight on these. The one I smoked plugged up about 1/2 of the way through to the point of being unsmokeable.

Randy
