  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I have been smoking convenience store cigars (black & mild), for the past few years and has been building to a couple a day. I get home from work around 12:30/1 am and enjoy sitting outside with a beverage and relaxing in the peace and quiet.
20+ years ago I started out drinking Strohs moved to Old Milwalkie, Bud Light and now I like Heineken, Becks Dark, Grolsh, Pilsner Urquell in my fridge now.
Or can't go wrong with a good Manhatten or sippin some Crown..
So I'm tired of the convenience store cigars and figure cigars will be like beer was for me. I've been to the local shop and tried a few, some OK, some not.
What I am wondering is what should I expect to pay for a decent smoke? If I am going to have one every night after work, I can't afford a $5 or $6 dollar smoke. I can see one once in a while.
I will check out the newb sampler thread, but wanted to get an idea here first.
Thanks for any help.

I found a really decent smoke from my newbie perspective. The brand is Spirit of Cuba I really enjoyed it. It is a relatively mild smoke and is cheap. If you look around you can find it around $1 a stick. It is not the best stick I have had by far but it is much better than the drug store sticks I had. I am going to order some, when they come in I will send you one.

Welcome Aboard! I think the Cheap Good smoke is the Holy Grail we all search for. Good news is that if you've been happy with Black and Mild, just about anything will seem like a good cigar, Bad news is you start smoking some of the recomended smokes around here, and you can never go back.

If you can find a Tataue dealer near you, try a P series (White Band) at about 3.75 to $4.00 I like those.

Welcome to the mix! Like Mitch said, anything else will be amazing compared to those you have been enjoying.

I would recommend anything from the Fuente line. The curly head is a good cheap smoke that can be found for around $2-$3 a stick.

Welcome! You can try the Oliva line they have good solid smokes matched with good prices. Also, the Onyx Reserve and the 5 Vegas A are worth the $2-$3 range. Remember try as many different kinds you can and smoke what you like.

Smoke a couple pricier ones on weekends, once you know what you like then look around for box prices. But then you gotta figure out some way to store them.

Ask the people that work at the cigar shop. If they can't help you then maybe there's a better shop elsewhere.

I don't really classify cigars by price all that often, I simply classify by enjoyment. That said, I'd rather ENJOY a cigar a couple times a week than simply SMOKE one every night.

Another way of saying that, I'd rather spend a few extra bucks ($6.00 or so) and get a great cigar in a couple times a week than smoke something ok every night. The cheaper, and still enjoyable, cigars can be found from many different countries. Padron K series, Partagas Shorts are just a couple examples.

YMMV.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I will do that, I have been trying a few cheaper ones, and haven't really liked any of them.
Well come back and let us know if you find anything. Couple brands that have cheaper smokes to check out would be Fuente as someone mentioned and Oliva.
