  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Thanks to DantheBugMan, I’m rearranging my travel schedule so that I can attend B&M cigar events… well, I posted a sign-up list for this yesterday with a general description of the activities:

La Flor Dominicana Event at Casa De Montecristo, Chicago IL

Date: Thursday September 8th. 2011
Location: Casa De Montecristo, Countryside, IL

There were several activities that you could have chosen:
• Cigar Sales Event
• Golf Outing
• Fine Dining

Due to my schedule I didn’t attend the Golf Outing.

Cigar Sales Event
Didn’t see any brothers which was disappointing, so I took the time to meet a few people. For some reason my "disappointment" soon faded… I wonder why?

Left to Right: Girl and me, me and buddy of mine (Bob), LFD’s regional sales rep and me

The selection was great; the deals even better… buy 3 boxes and get a fourth box free. I had to get a Casa de Tobaco hut after smoking an inch of the Air Bender Maduro… it has a perfect burn along with a lot of other nice qualities.

Left to Right: picture of selection, Casa de Tobaco huts, Litto signing my hut, me and Litto

I didn’t take any good photos of the crowd at the sales event but there was a good number of people.

Fine Dining
So one thing that I almost enjoy as much as smoking cigars is eating. Here are some photos of the downstairs where the dinner took place. Each table had assigned seats.

One of the treats of the dinner is each person got an event cigar, something unique that will not be made again. It is based on the La Flor Dominicana Diadema Duo Coffin, but the cigars have the same wrapper as the Colorado Oscuro wrapper.

It finally dawned on me that my assigned seat was next to Litto… wow! I’m still in shock. Maybe I showed too much appreciation… the guy on the right is one of the owners, Mike.

Here are some pictures of the food… I left out the appetizers and salad. Sorry. :bouncetau

Finally a brother shows up, smokenbodybuilder (Paul). Someone snapped a photo of us with Litto. And I would be remiss to not show a photo of a few of the great employees that make these events possible and so much fun. Karie is the famous backdrop of one of Kockroach’s JG LE cigar reviews and Dave is one of the best Tobacconists I know.

Well, I had a blast guys… hopefully next time more BOTL members will show up.

It has now become a habit for me and my friends to meet up at a local bar in Geneva "The Post Cafe". the bar doesn't look like anything, plus it is just in front of the post office (from which it takes its name from) and Police station.

this time only 5 of us came, cause all the gurls were sick. This week the gurls are back so I guess I'll make an update. But the cigars were nice and I enjoex my second Bone Breaker so it was a win win.

As you can see on the table I took my little work humidor with me, damn thing was almost empty at the end of the night.

Are you the 11,12,13 or 40 year old? :rolling:

I'll be going to a Fuente event either Thursday or Friday.

LOL if you have to know we range between 26 and 35. I am the bearded perv being 35.

You should live in Switzerland they like cubans and also think that cigars are only for the zimmer frame farts like you.

Jokes aside. Thanks to brands like Tatuaje, Viaje, Drew Estate, Room101, 264 and others, the love of the leaf won't die when the expiration date passes on the cementary club.

35 is a good age... me too. You do look like Fidel Castro with that beard! And I wish I was there to enjoy a cigar.

Haha, I'm just messing with you because I'm jealous of that beard! My facial hair is pretty spotty and patchy which means I'm confined to a life of no facial hair. It's depressing.

Went to Holt's Fuente Mania yesterday and today. Today I caught a picture with Carlito Fuente. We chatted a bit, seems like a hell of a guy. And you could also tell why he continues to be successful. He definitely knows how to work a crowd. The 2nd pic is the Casa Fuente I bought (and smoked).

I did ask him about the fire and he was pretty ambiguous about how much was destroyed and which lines were going to be effected, however he did say they were planning on scaling back production until they had the reserves built up again. Again, not much in terms of concrete answers, but at this point he may not even fully know the extent.

I also met 2 Jims, 1 Jesse and an Art. All great guys. They told me about a cigar club they have in Lancaster, I'm interested in learning a bit more about it.

Got out of the computer chair and headed out to Ole Stogie & Son poker Saturday night; it's a small shop maybe an hour from me I accidentally found a week ago.

I met the owner, Ed, and his son Bo as well as the cast of characters that inhabit the lounge.

After re-buys ($5 to $8 sticks as a min buyin) there were a told of 20 "buys."

Left to right: The table; Monsterdg; the final table and the owner, again L to R: Larry, Eric, Ed the owner, Monsterdg, Old Boar.

I came in 3rd and walked away with a small handful of sticks.

The CAO Brazila was from Old Boars private stash, a gift from him to everyone at the final table. Look at the age on that!

Had an awesome time, everyone was very friendly and didn't think I was too nuts asking to get my picture taken. I think I found my regular spot!
