I am new to cigar smoking, with about 25 total cigars under my belt, with most of them being Acids or CAO's. I was looking for some recommendations from the experts here... I've been lurking for a bit and reading up and got some ideas, but was wondering if you all would give me some recommendations.

I have mainly smoked:
Acid Kuba Deluxe
Acid Cold Tea
CAO (unknown type)
Romeo y. Julieta (Unknown type)

Right now, my main smoke is the Kuba but I want to branch away from the "flavored" cigars. Mind you, I still want some flavor, but not that kind, if that makes any sense. The RyJ I tried really had no flavor and was too mild... Thanks all and sorry for the long winded post.

I'd try to get a hold of a perdomo 10th anni champagne. They are mild Connecticut with plenty of flavor. When I first started smoking, I used would smoke Arturo Fuente Chateaus, either the conn. or maduro. Mild but flavorful (at least I thought so back then). The sungrowns have a bit more spice, but are really good IMO. Don't be afraid to smoke maduros, just because a cigar is dark doesn't mean its strong and spicy. Maduros are actually known for a semi-sweet coco characteristic. 5 vegas A is a great maduro, and cheap, and is not as "strong" as the online retailers make it out to be.

Just stay away from anything that's made by pepin, or cigars made with ligero leaf.

hemi short story or padron 2000 maduro
Both great cigars . I also am fond of Nub Maduros, but some find the size a little much (that's what she said, haha I beat you guys to it ). Another cigar I've really enjoyed was a Henry Clay, lots of nice nutty, creamy flavor.

nice work tommy boy! yeah...branch away from the acids brother. Try anything from don pepin or tatuaje...spicy...and good. You really can't go too wrong with fuente, viaje, or lfd either.

Some other ones you may want consider to trying are the Excaliber line I still like the Epicure Maduros, Oliva Series G & Series O, La Gloria Cubana. A big part of the fun is trying new brands!

Welcome!

Try any Tatuaje, Fuente, Padron, Illusione, Liga Privada. That should be enough flavor for you for a while. Just don't be mad when you have a few hundred cigars in a few months and you can't pay your rent.

Start off mild
Grand Cru
Perdomo champagne
Fuente 858 natural
Brickhouse
(there are tons of good mild smokes)

and work your way around a bit. I would not just jump straight to Tatuaje and the rest of Pepin stuff. I think you will benefit more starting with mild/medium and working up in strength.

+1 on the branching away from the ACID's. I finally got around to trying one and the flavoring was too much... insane. One I have been enjoying lately is the Joya de Nicaragua Cabinetta. Its one of those sticks with Connecticut Shade wrap on the bottom and a dark Connecticut Broadleaf wrap on top. Very tasty and a fairly mild smoke.

Fuente is a good place to start. All the recommendations have been spot on. Mind you coming down from acid some cigars may seem bland but the more you move away from flavored you'll pick up the nuances in the premium stogies

So I stopped by a new (to me) shop today, my first shop as a real smoker. I walked out with a new Xicar Element, punch/ torch combo, an Oliva Serie V and a CAO Brazilia.

I also stopped by for a visit with my grandfather in law, who's been smoking cigars for a long time. He ended up given me an Arturo Fuente Reserva Xtra Viejo and also gave me a Romeo y Julieta humidor.

After that it was to the liquor store for a new bottle of Oban!
