Mederos “Fifty 1 – Robusto”. Size 5x50. A Nicaraguan puro - aged corojo wrapper from Jalapa, binder and filler is from Estelli. Available at Thompsons for $165.00 per 25 count box, $29.95 for torpedo 5-pack.

Appearance: Smooth chestnut brown wrapper, some small veins, color is even with nice sheen. No visible flaws. Cigar is well-packed and firm with no soft spots. Triple cap is well applied, cut perfectly. Blend is noticeable at foot, with much darker outer layer.

Prelight: Aroma is nice and rich, well-aged tobacco with slight hay note. Taste is sweet tobacco, hay and a very slight spice note. Draw is perfect; not loose not too firm.

Light: Torched up well, although a bit uneven at first. Initial flavor is coffee bean, nuts, very slight spice note.

1/3: Flavor is dominated by that of fresh brewed coffee, with a bit of wood and leather. In a bit a slight spice note drops in for a few minutes and is gone. As it moves through the first third notes of earth pick up and a bit of cedar starts to show up. Burn is a bit cooked, but needs only one quick correction. Ash is light gray, fairly firm. Body is medium. Draw is excellent, with lots of smoke.

2/3: The coffee taste continues to predominate, with a bit of cedar coming in and out. Earthiness builds a bit. Ash falls off at about two inches. A sweet tobacco note comes and goes and then the cigar changes. A floral note abruptly starts… this note finishes with sweet cedar. This odd, but interesting note continues for ten minutes and is gone just as abruptly as it arrived and the dominant coffee profile takes over again.

3/3: Cigar is back to how it was in the beginning-coffee with a bit of cedar and a touch of earth. A note of leather creeps in, but it has flattened out overall. At the very end a very nice sweet caramel note drops in for a bit, before the cigar turns and I put it down with about an inch and a half left. Smoking time about one hour and ten minutes.

Overall: A nice medium-bodied cigar, if this is a flavor profile you enjoy. Not really my cup of tea as I tend more toward stronger and spicier offerings. This cigar is well made with a pleasant and consistent flavor. There are some interesting aspects, but it was not terribly complex in my opinion.

Great review Brother. Even though I like a stronger cigar this sounds like a nice change of pace. Thanks for the review. :cbig:

Nice review. I recently bought some in a torpedo. A pretty nice cigar that can be smoked at any time of the day.
