  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

This review is being done as part of Dan’s newbie contest and I am in no way implying that I know what I am talking about or have that sophisticated pallet that is required to do a good review I am simply posting my personal experience with this cigar. All comments are encouraged good or bad as I also would like to know how you feel about this cigar and my review.
One of these reviews was to be of a cigar that we had never tried before so this is my first time with this one.

The cigar that I will be reviewing is the:
Joya De Nicaragua Antano Dark Corojo Doble Fuente

Size: 5 x 44
Country of Origin: Nicaragua
Wrapper: Nicaragua
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua
Est. Price: $8.50 (at my B&M)
Beverage: Water

The overall appearance of this cigar was good with tight seams but kind of bumpy from the binder used I suspect. There was some light veining and the cap seems to be well constructed. The color is a deep rich brown with a slightly oily appearance. This cigar has a nice firm feel with no noticeable soft spots just that lumpy feel.

The cap was easily removed with my xikar and the prelight draw was a little loose but not bad. The prelight draw showed a barnyard tobacco taste with spice and a slight bit woodsy.
The initial draw brings the spice immediately with just a hint of sweetness.

The first third of this cigar delivers a nice heavy spice and the sweetness picks up a little more and I am surprised how smooth this cigar is with all this spice.

The second third the spice had died down some and the sweetness is really showing itself as molasses. Not getting a lot of other flavors but the sweet and spice is really working well for me.

On the final third this stick is really starting to show its strength. The spice makes a comeback in a big way and the sweetness has all but gone. I am getting some of that woodsy taste that I had on the prelight draw.

This stick really surprised me with its strength and I really liked how the spice and sweet worked together. The smoke stayed really smooth throughout this entire stick which I did not expect, given the strength. I was concerned with burn issues due to the lumpy appearance but had none. I did have to do a relight but was probably due to my neglect as I was trying to take notes and pictures. I would definitely buy this one again.

Someone on BOTL recommended that I at least try one of these and it was surprisingly good... nice review. Thank you for taking the time to post.
