This review is being done as part of Dans newbie contest and I am in no way implying that I know what I am talking about or have that sophisticated pallet that is required to do a good review I am simply posting my personal experience with this cigar. All comments are encouraged good or bad as I also would like to know how you feel about this cigar and my review.
The cigar that I will be reviewing is the Padron Family Reserve No. 45 Maduro.
One of these reviews was to be of our favorite cigar and this has been my favorite for some time.
This particular cigar was a Fathers Day gift given to me this past Fathers Day. Thanks Justin

The overall appearance of this cigar was good with no noticeable seams very light veining with some slight wrinkles near the cap which I attribute to the box pressing of this cigar. The color is a deep rich brown with a slightly oily appearance. This cigar has a nice firm feel with no noticeable soft spots.
The cap was easily removed with my xikar and the prelight draw was not quite as tight as I expected having smoked these before but was still fine. The prelight draw showed a dry tobacco taste with spice and a slight bite to the tongue.
The initial draw brings a spicy dark chocolate with just a bit of a woodsy taste but not quite sure I would call it cedar.
The first third of this cigar delivers a nice heavy smoke while the dark chocolate is still prevalent the spice has all but vanished and has been replaced with just a hint of toasted nuts
The second third is not showing much change from the first although I believe the dark chocolate has lightened up some and there is a slight sweetness maybe a brown sugar but it is not very prevalent. Thick plumes of smoke are still there. I am remembering why this is my favorite cigar.
On the final third the spice makes a comeback and the sweetness has all but gone with the chocolate still being the dominant flavor.
I did have some burn issues with this cigar and had to touch it up and was unable to nub this one but have never had this before. There is not a lot of change in this cigar as you progress through each third but that is just fine with me as the flavor profile is spot on in my opinion. If you are looking for a very complex flavor profile this may not be the stick for you but if you are looking for a nice chocolately smoke with just a hint of spice you have to give this one a try
My overall impression as you may have already guessed is I am loving this cigar. While my budget does not allow me to smoke these on a regular basis, it is my go to for special occasions
