I've said this before - but this is just a reminder. I'll be breaking BOTL over time in order to get it into a far better place. Just be patient if you can't reach us! We'll be back
As a died in the wool Padron guy, Anniversary's especially, I have been told by a couple of folks that while not a 1:1 comparison, the Nica Libre is really a nice everyday stick.
I like them, and if you throw them into your humi and let them sit for a bit they get even better - but they are not a Padron by any stretch.
I have some with more than a year on them in one of my humidors, the wrappers have a nice look and feel and taste great - but not as nice as one of my equal-aged Padrons.
They're great cigars, especially for the price. I think that they are Padron-esque with a lot of coffee, chocolate, and dark earthy, sweet nuances. for $2.50 you cant beat them. Hell, they are damn good for even $5-6 range.
I do not care for this cigar however my taste is not your taste. It wasn't that it was a bad cigar, just not in my flavor profile. I'm not sure you will find a cigar comparable to a padron at a cheap price but if you do let us know!
Thanks guys. I am going to pick up a sampler from cigar.com (I think). On a related topic, what gives on the Famous 70th Anniversary stick from Padron?
I bought a few at CI and tried them and didn't care for them. I gave them another shot, diffrent size, still no dice. I'd rather spend the buck or two extra and get a Padron in the regular line.
I'm anxious to torch one of the Nica Libres that I won off CBID but want to give it at least a month rest. While I'm not expecting a Padron I do hope it gives me some of the same notes as a Padron cigar. I have heard back and forth on this so the only way to settle it is to try one. Appreciate the amount of feedback on here...at least it gives me an indication of what to expect.

Not sure about this particular one but I recently finished off 2 of the Famous 70th Garcia Anniversary Churchill and Robusto which were quite good. Wish the pricing was about $2 cheaper on both as that would make me like them so much better. Would like to see who thinks the Famout 70th Anniversary stick from Padron is a valuable cigar?:cjump:
