  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I'll start off by saying I am a Drew Estate junkie. My humidor is full of FFP, Undercrowns, T-52's, Papas Fritas...hell I even have a DE hat, shirt and ash tray to boot! I bought one of the new Nica Rustica with the mindset that I was going to buy a box after I smoked one and loved it. I must say, it lacked complexity and was somewhat boring.

Is it possible that I didn't let it settle long enough in the humidor or had a bad one, or has anyone else had the same experience with them??

Didnt like my first one... i have come to the conclusion it was a bad stick, because ive had 3 since then and all were great, age will do these sticks kindly, i base that on the undercrowns ! in the end its all about your tastes, if you dont like them give it a year and revisit! my .02 cents

You only have ONE DE Hat? OMFG!? j/k I dunno about the Nica Rustica proper release. I had a pre-release stick from the cigar safari that I wasn't impressed with. I am looking forward to my MUWAT KFCs arriving however!

Had one couple of days ago and thought it was "meh". Started out tasty, but last two thirds were kinda bland. Gonna let the rest of the 5'er sit for a month or so see if additional rest does them good.

Also love most DE stuff and also did not have such a great experience with the first Rustica I smoked. I noticed a very strong aroma, and just mediocre flavors....Not too impressive, even at the price point.

I am hoping that some rest will bring them around...Time will tell!

Honestly I kinda like the Rustica. From what I had been smoking recently it was a good change. Hard to put my finger on what exactly flavors I was picking up, but I got a 5er from a fellow brother so I'll post up my review when I get to them.

I'll agree to the one noted-ness of the Nica. I had my first one a few months back and loved the shaggy foot, upon the lit up I was interested in how much the extra wrapper in the foot gave a unique first draw. At roughly 7 bucks, I like them because at 6 inches in length they are perfectly timed for the limited smoke time I have these days. Not my favorite by far, but great IMO.

Well I couldn't find the thread I wanted so ill post this here as it's similar to the one I had wanted. I have smoked 5 nica rusticas to date. The first 4 while ok. Were nothing special. I know I'm not alone in thinking this of this cigar. However I happened to watch COs review of it today and REV bombed me another so I threw that one down to rest and grabbed one of my remaining 3. After watching the review on YouTube I saw he smoked it in one hour. Now normally I smoke a stick that size in about an hour 45 or two hours. I'm a slow smoker. I decided to try and smoke this one in about an hour. I succeeded. And finally got some really good flavors. Coffee. Caramel. And some other good stuff. It had no burn issues or issues with it going out. Which I have had every other time. Looks like this one has to be smoked faster than I normally would smoke. But the point is. It was really good. Finally. And I am much happier knowing this. And well sometimes it reviews can help you get a better handle on a cigar you may have found iffy. The more you know. Lol.

Very surprised speeding up your smoking time didnt make it burn too hot. Or maybe that cigar needs to burn at a slightly higher temp to release its flavors?

Possibly. Or maybe I'm just a slow ass smoker lol. I looked up a few reviews and everyone seems to smoke these in about an hour. Hour and fifteen. I feel like maybe I'm just slow now.

The KFCs is the brother of the Nica Rustica, they both have bad manners :barf:

Well after reading this and the KFC I think I may have to pass on these if I see them this weekend. I wasn't exactly looking forward to the KFC as I thought the MUWAT was too bland for me. I had the +11 and bait fish and was just not impressed. The guy at my local B&M kept talking up the Nica Rustica like it was gonna be fantastic. Hmm. I may pick one up and let it sit for awhile anyway and try it anyways. I love DE and smoke them quite frequently. Just may have to stick with the norms.

May want to give RoMa Craft Tobac a try there meaty and very flavorful smokes and not badly priced, there somewhat similar to the MUWAT but miles ahead
