  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

So I swapped wrappers on a Tataje Noella and wrapped it in a candela that I took off of an ITC toro.

This tastes nothing at all like a regular noella. I've burned through 4 or 5 cabs of the noellas and think that they are awesome, changing the wrapper changed the cigar 100%. Candela has a bite to it, almost a tart/bitter bite to it and it takes good leaf to balance it out and make it enjoyable. The wrapper I had was good, but not the greatest.

The verde noella smoked like a champ and it was hard to really get to any of the flavors associated with the vitola because of the wrapper, but I did get a ginger overtone that you can put in different stages...

1st - Gingersnaps
2nd - Gingerale
3rd - Gingertar

The last 1 1/2 inches tasted really putrid because there wasn't anthing to take the bite out of the tar from the leaf. The candela actually enhanced the tar tastic taste and had to put it down. Not a great cigar, but it was good.

I'll have to take Pete's suggestion next and try a Regio with a broadleaf. It makes more sense than the candela, but hey...it looked cool.

that is pretty cool rob! Maybe you can inspire Pete to make a BOTL candella.
Candela is funky, you really need the right blend to make it work. Pete's blends are hearty and robust, I think the lightest cigar I've had from Tatuaje was the Gran Conoju, but that's right about the choice blend for a candela.

I rolled a lot of smoke in college (*cough*--*cough*) but I don't think I'd have the skill to pull that off so well. Looks great, and sounds neat!

Nice! Pig tail and all... any other experiments in the works besides the Regio, you obviously have done this before...

This is almost like sacriledge or blasphemy...tearing apart a perfectly good Tatuaje cigar.

And making it a candela no less.

j/k...pretty cool actually.

How does one rewrap a cigar, can you do a DIY or even a video of this.
If I remember right, some friends have done this by wrapping the cigars in a moist towel. After a little bit, the wrapper becomes soft enough to be able to take off without damage. Then you can use it to wrap whatever cigar you like.
