Noob that loves Las Calaveras

So I’m someone that has smoked a cigar here and there since they were a kid but never really thought much about it until recently. I guess you could say I became passionate about exploring the world of Scotch a couple years ago and my journey through that world has led me to the discovery that I love smoking cigars.

So I just started exploring the cigar world this summer. The Liga Pravda #9 and 2018 Las Calaveras caught my eye early on and I have yet to try a cigar that I like better. Specifically the Las Calaveras 2018, this is easily my favorite so far. The tatuajes, Alec Bradleys and other Drew Estates are good but just not in the same league as the Las Calaveras for me.

I can’t figure out what it is about the 2018 Las Calaveras that I like so much. Is it the Mexican San Andreas wrapper? Should I focus on seeking out other Crowned Heads cigars to try? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Crowned heads is awesome, try anything from them!! Also find some San Andreas sticks, I'm not a huge fan but I know someone will have some suggestions

I personally thought the LC18s were a little “green” when I smoked one, but they may be coming around...will have to revisit

Highly recommend the Jericho Hill lancero and the La Imperiosa Magicos from Crowned Heads, if you’re digging the LC18.

I’ve tried quite a few singles, I’m mostly into speyside and isle Islay stuff though. I have a large bowl next to where I keep my bottles that I toss all of my single malt bottle tops into once the bottle is done. I can tell you that there are by far the more Ardbeg tops in that bowl than any other single... I’m currently on rye kick though and as I type this I’m enjoying a 2018 LC and sipping on some Dad’s Old Hat rye. I highly recommend Dad’s Old Hat, by far my favorite rye. 2018 LC + Rye whiskey is the perfect way to wind down a stressful work week.

Not a rye drinker but Dads Hat is pretty good. Of course everything from PA is awesome.

I've had every CH cigar that is made and have discovered that they don't rest very well. Their sweet spot is 5 month to a little over a year. Anything over 13 months they get too weak and change and lose their balance. I still have a few of the 2016 and should have smoked through them....and now they lay in the humidor whining and sniveling. From here on I intend on buying 5 paks and letting them rest for 6 months and then smoke them all before they lose their "muscle"....

Update: I finished off my 5er of LC18 robustos that I purchased from a local B&M and ordered a 5er of the LC18 toros from an online shop.

These toros are nothing like the robustos, the wrapper is much more rough/toothy than the bustos, the draw is extremely tight, and the flavor is more dull. I don’t know what to say but I’m not very impressed. I guess I’ll let them rest for a while.

Tried the Headley Grange which I enjoyed a lot and the four kicks which I enjoyed less. In the meantime I also discovered the Warped gr88 which really blew me away this was a really fantastic smoke. Next up is my first illusione Epernay, can’t wait to try that one

Illusionse Epernay Le grande is one of my favorite cigars to this day. Just an awesome smoke, and the 6x46 is my idea of a perfect size.

I second the JH Lancero, its a good smoke if you have the time and is on sale at Holt's at the moment.

The Illusione Epernay is also a fantastic smoke. Most that I have tried from Illusione have been excellent.
