  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Ohhh...This is so MINE!!!

Xikar blades are generally great well made and high quality. I am not a fan of the funtion of them but have been thinking of the new traditional shaped ones that are out now.
Do you own any of their lighters? What are your impressions? All of my lighters suck and I know it affects my burn lines.

I usually use a Craftsman's Bench V-cutter that I got in a package deal with five CAO Blacks and a 5-count Herf-a-Dor. Works perfect, every single time. I do have a Xikar Rosewood cutter that is in pieces in a padded envelope waiting for me to send it back. That said, it worked great before it fell apart. Gotta say, that is one bad-ass looking cutter!

They are awesome. I used a Xikar for about 3 months before I found Palio. Used my Palio for 4 years, then found the Xikar V cutter, I used that for 8 months, and now I'm back to the Palio again.

I have the Xikar Tech lighter which is single flame, and the triple flame Trezo (I think it's called that). I like both of them. They are well-made and the flame is dependable. I use Vector butane, which is refined 5x and I have not had any issues. I have tried numerous lighters over the past few years. I'll stick with these Xikars.

Also, I had a problem with the Tech lighter when I first started using it. The flame was erratic. I sent Xikar an e-mail inquiry and they wrote back the same day with suggestions about what might be going wrong. As it turns out, I needed the purge the air more thoroughly before refilling it. In the same e-mail, Xikar told me I could send it back to them and they would send me a new one immediately. Impressive.

LigaPrivadaFanboy, Where did you find your avatar? That is great. My brother is a park ranger in Yosemite National Park and he loves bears. I'd like to send him that picture in your avatar, but a larger version :)

Wouldn't you like to know?
I have not had much luck with xikar lighter. Executive had a weak barely adjustable flame, had a double torch that had metal decorative pieces that the scres came out of so they fell off. Had a nice single torch but it really only worked at one setting. Had a flintfire which other then feeling a little lighter then I would like was a great lighter till TSA pulled it from my luggage on the way home from chicago.

The warranty is fantastic but in the end it was cheaper for me to find a lighter that didn't need to be sent away as the shipping was kinda expensive from Canada.

Okay fellas...I didn't get this. As much as I loved it, I just can't justify the cost. I settled for a box of Padron 85's instead as I have cutters I love already.
Word is Xikar is in the process of making a brand new cutter that will out do them all...we'll just have to wait and see.

Ran into the Xikar rep yesterday at the B&M. Asked him about it and he offered to go to his car to let me see it. I said "Thats OK" as his car was down the street. He said he also had the mammoth and I said "Sure, go get them". They are both beautiful and I would like both, but I prefer the Mayan.

I use the Xikar element. Double flame, very dependable and has a punch (my preferred method so it works great. Just going out that when you register your lighters or cutter, they send a leather case for free. Mine is on its way!!! Hard to beat a lifetime warranty

Just sent my Xikar beechwood back for a second time. I asked for it to be replaced with a chrome one and I would pay the difference. BUTTTTTTT of course USPS LOST my poor cutter :( and now I am filing an insurance claim. Love the wood look but never again. I agree Matthew about the chrome one, it looks really nice and the handles screw on to the body which should alleviate my problems with the wood handle cutters.
