  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

OK guys.. I am in need of the BEST BEST BEST hygrometer.

If money was no object what would you buy? I need 3. I want them TIGHT! and I'll be honest all the digital ones I have played with seem to leave me wondering. I will calibrate them side by side with a Boveda calibration pack 24-48 hours. They will be ROCK SOLID! Then set them in a humidor side by side and they will be 7% off each other..WTF! I want accurate! I want SOLID! I am setting up a 70+ box 3 section HUGE 10 ft long 7 ft tall humidor at my store I am going to invest thousands of bucks and I want to be able to say without question to my customers that it is SOLID... Help a BOTL out?

Cheers
Jay

Wow what were you using that had that much variation? I've used the simple calibrated hygrometers and even the ambient weather.... And they've held steady for months within 1-2% over 3 different coolidors at 65% with beads and bovedas

Acurite....I've got a dozen of them and they are within 1% accuracy. I bought a $50 one about 15 years ago and at that time that was an expensive hygro....it registers perfect accuracy and I test this against the acurites I have every 6 months. You can get em at WallyWorld for $8 and when I bought mine I get 6 at a time and put them in with the expensive one and the ones that tested over 1% I took back until I got a collection of near perfect readings. After 5 years all of them are still reading nearly perfect.

Caliber IV, like Zippogeek says, they are simply the best rated for cigars and price wise you can't beat it. FYI: cheaphumidors.com: They are the best price wise, and if you can find it cheaper they price match as well. I bought a humidor from them and when I found it cheaper elsewhere they not only matched the price but beat it by $15.

LOL and no I don't work for them, just a satisfied customer.

Edit: CheapHumidors.com has them back in stock; order while they last. I know I will

I know the ambient weather says +-5% but in my experience once they are calibrated and in a stable environment they have held as steady as the +-1% Ive used

I calibrated all at the same time, then placed all in the coolidor, at most I had 1% variation, which is easily corrected since you can adjust them without opening the humidor/coolidor

The beauty is using them without having to open up the coolidor
