  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

this is going to be my first cigar review so please forgive the spelling and lack of general writing ability.

Ok so this is the box that they came in a very hevy box even empty.

the inside ws very nice must have looked great on a shelf at any cigar store.
im going to give you a few shots of my humidor and such just for shits and gigles.

So down to the matter at hand i pulled a Oliva O muduro that i got a few days ago to compare the cigars next to eachother. the older one is ruffer in just the shape of the cigar and look. It has a slight curve to it.

The Wrapper
it has about the same color as the new one but has the same look and feel of a well worn leather couch right down to the light creases and viens.

The Smell
It is very very sweet Smell like a baked good hummm like a crepe light sweet smell.

I choose to have a guinness with it and i was smoking in my hobbie room ( the heater room of my apartment lol)

i am includeing a picture of the ashtray so you can see the size as we go along

First Cut
It was very soft almost squishy and the tobacco stuck together to the point i had to squish the opisite sides to open it.

The taste after the cut was just like the smell of a flake of alphafa and i mean just like it.

First light
smooth light draw, very sweet flavor in the mouth with a light peppery note in the back of the mouth. plesent aroma leathery with bits of clove. Slighly un even burn but looked to even out.

Note: At the first inch the burm had evened out but the ash had a curve to it.

First 1/3
It was becoming a very full bodied cigar and the spicy note had moved to the tip of the tongue (not peppery more like cinnamon).
the ash ws very ruff and craggyand not very large, it shrunk quite noticably.

i could taste the cigar over the guinness and it was making the beer taste bitter, stopped drinking it.

1/2 of the way down

The taste on the back of my mouth has shifted to a dark esspresso with a bit of honey. the flavors continue to glow but still remain very smoth and not harsh. i am able to blow out though my nose with no discomfort.the ash is light and brown in color.

getting closer to the last third my mouth is covered in a light spice and a very light tingle, the after taste is short but comes flooding back with each draw.

The final 1/3
At this point i forget to take more pictures. Sorry

I choose to clean the palet with some water to better taste the finish.
It has a very strong tobacco flaver ( i love it). the spicy taste has left and a sweet flavor couts my mouth. On the draw the smoke it cool to the tip of my tongue with a light salt taste (?) but the smoke as a whole is still very sweet. It has also become much thicker and when i swallow the spice it still at the back of the throat. the full body is really showing up now.
i wish i had a nother box. Its hard to smoke and think of the flavors at the same time.

The last inch
No piture but i was really working at the end to keep from burning my self as i didnt want to put it down. A huge hit of chocolate and pepper hit me at the end. the smoke remained cool tell the last 3/4 of an inch. along with the stong ending i got a little buzz that only a full bodied cigar can give you.

Final thoughts
Wish it would last a little longersmoke time was about 1hour 10min. It tasted nothing like the nre Oliva O, just more of everything flavor, smoothness, and spice. Burn was typical Oliva great the whole way down not tending needed.I am left with a great flavor in my mouth as i try to write this for you all.
I wish i hd enuff for everybody to try one. i am looking forward to the next ime i can light up one of these great sticks.

I'm curious brotha, where did you find those, or have you had them
for a long time? That was a great first review! I think you knocked
it out of the park! You also chose a very unique cigar as well!
Keep up the good work!

Great review and pictures.
I'm also curious how long you’ve had these. I have some Oliva Grand Maduros (8 x52 ring, box pressed) which is the old version of the Serie G Maduro Presidente before the company change their look. The bands are different but they don’t have the cloth bands like yours. That makes me think they are older than my Grand Maduros.

the ashtray was made at one of those paint your own and has been with me though 2 military moves and one x wife so we got some history together. and the band cloth on a ovation series that had 3 cigars a red a blue and i am not sure of the other color. i got them at a pipe tabacco store that sells a few cigars that had no idea what they had. i got the box for about 4 bucks a stick.and they quit production of these in 03.

as being in the military that is just what it is. its nice to have when you dont want to spend 8+ bucks and just want to smoke, i tend to stay away from fruity flavors unless i am having a party and then i use it as an ice breaker. everybody wants to try mango or passion fruit. oh and that room i aslo turn cigar boxxes into a jewlry box, paint draw and watch movies. its like i said my hobie room.
