Oliva Serie G Maduro
Size: 5 1/2 x 54 Perfecto
Wrapper: Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro
Filler: Nicaraguan Habano long-fillers
Pre-light:
Great construction of a box pressed Perfecto. No visible veins on it's slight toothy wrapper. Firm to the touch with no hard or soft spots.
I got a slight grassy aroma off of the foot and wrapper.
Pre-light draw was rather tight but found this to be expected from it's perfecto shape.
Post-light:
The cigar was easily lit and gave off little resting smoke. It put off good amounts of creamy smoke when puffed on. I found this to be a both of best worlds situation. The ash was nice and firm but flaky, having a white/grey color.
The initial flavors in the first part of the cigar were predominitly nutty and woody with a slight grassy undertone. Progressing through the cigar the nut and wood flavors were the main flavors and the grassy flavors backing off and a nice dark chocolate or cocoa taking its place. The chocolate flavors continually grew stronger but never overtaking the nut and woodiness making for a nice mix of tastes.
The cigars construction was excellent through most of the cigar. I had a spot where the burn line started to get ahead of itself on one side but never getting bad enough to have to touch up. The tight draw that I experienced at the beginning opened up as the perfecto shape widened becoming very comfortable.
Overall:
I honestly am not a fan of Oliva cigars but would say that this was a good stick. Great physical construction and burn qualities with good flavors, I'd say everyone should try a couple of these. I believe the price point on these is very good. ~$110 for a box of 24.
