  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

no pictures tonight, ladies and gents... i was outside in the dark with no flash on my camera. (here's some info.)

well, the band was being used as a band-aid on this stick. it was covering up an unsightly part of the wrapper... kinda like when you get a perfect apple, but you find the big pock mark under the sticker. otherwise, the wrapper is a beautiful dark chocolate brown, and it smells amazing. the construction is solid all the way through.

at the start, the draw is almost perfect. i'm producing billows of smoke with minimal effort. the flavor at the start is spicy and rich, and the smoke has a wonderful chocolate aroma. the burn is good and even.

after the one-inch kick, the flavors are nice and smooth with notes of pepper, wood, nut, and semi-sweet cocoa. the mouth feel is creamy. the smoke, though still sweet, has taken on a grassy aroma.

halfway: much the same, though much less peppery. it's a beautiful balance of the wood, nut, and cocoa mentioned previously. the stick has a perfect even burn. so far, this is a fantastic smoke.

further along, the wood and nut flavors are the most prevalent. the aroma is still sweet and chocolaty, but more... tobacco-y. the draw has become a little too easy (the cigar went out when i waited a little more than a minute between puffs), but it's still producing tons of great white smoke. the finish is nutty and wonderful.

at the end, everything is quite nutty. this was a very pleasant cigar all around. lost a few points on appearance, but hey. the Oliva O Maduro is added to my list of good Olivas (along with the V and Connecticut).

cheers, and happy smoking! :)

GRADES:

OVERALL GRADE…B+ (damn fine cigar!)
