  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

As requested I am doing a review on an Oliva Serie V. This is the double toro in a 6x60 size and was 11 frickin bucks at my local shop. I'm just sitting here staring at this beautiful cigar getting ready to light it up. This is one awesome looking stick. It is very oily in appearance. The prelight draw feels a little tight and has hints of cocoa and hay. I have smoked 3 or 4 of these before and they were all great. Let's see how this one stacks up.

Ok it's lit and going great. About a half inch in and things couldn't be better. You ever get that feeling when you first light a cigar that you are in for a treat? That's what I'm getting right now. So far I would say it has a great caramel like creaminess to it with just a hint of spice.

This cigar is gaining in strength and is definitely a full bodied smoke and yet it is very smooth. The cocoa taste I had in the prelight is still present and I'm starting to pick up some coffee flavors as well. The draw and the amount of smoke has been perfect thus far.

The ash is a little flaky but it held on for about 2". This is a great cigar so far so it didn't bother me too much when it fell on my shirt.

It's still going great and nothing has changed with the flavors. But why mess with perfection right.

Nothing really changed in the flavor department but it was just a lot of creamy goodness right down to the nub. I was looking for something to nub it with and found something a little unique to use. I will definitely buy some more of these.

Wait... what... I thought both Maduros have been torps?

Does it say "Maduro Especial" on the band?

Good call. I was wrong. This not the maduro. It is the Double toro 6x60.
Ok cool, I was going to say...

I would like to see the Double Robo or Lancero and if different shops were getting different things... well... I would have had to make some calls.

Nice review. I've only smoked the torpedoes, but they've got a nice strong tobacco-nutty flavor to them.

Your dog seems to be tired of all your cigar smoking.

I love the torpedos and the double robusto. I get them for between 5-6 bucks a stick. I think they are the best cigar for the value on the market. I like them better than Tats.

Nice review!!

I like the Series V a lot. I've had the mini beli which I didn't think was that great, the robusto which was great, and the lancero which is my favorite so far. I'd love to try that big figurado some day.
