My first cigar review - I've only been smoking for a couple months now so I'm not going to wax poetic but I did take some pics. It was ~10:30pm when I started, and about 32 degrees outside. I had a hot toddy to accompany this cigar and that worked out wonderfully.
Size: 3 3/4 x 48
Shape: Perfecto
Wrapper: Maduro
Filler: Nicaragua
Binder: Nicaragua
MSRP: $2.50 - I paid 4.50 at my local B&M
Inspection, cut and light:
Dark oily toothy yummy looking wrapper, very well constructed. Cuts easy with no muss. Draw is a bit tight, this baby is packed. Most good small perfectos seem this way to me so that's a good sign. It's hard to believe this is a sub 3 dollar cigar (box of 48 can be had for under 100) despite it's small size. Lit easily and smoked all the way through without a single retouch or relight. wow.
developed a split about 1/3 of the way through, didn't effect anything - smoked through it just fine.
Pleasure to smoke with leather, oak, cream, sweet spice (started up second third) and tobacco notes. There were some very slight amonia and burnt oak notes that might indicate it needs some age (?no idea really?) but those notes were not unpleasant and pretty infrequent. The aftertaste is pretty long lasting and pleasant.
I had though my 1/3 ash was impressive, but after an hour of smoking I was ready to go in and the ash still hadn't fallen. I was only half way through the cigar after an hour when I stopped smoking, it was just too damn cold. Yes, you heard me, this last picture was taken after an hour of smoking with no relights or retouches. Most people report smoking the whole thing in 30-40 minutes. I puff slow, what can I say.
I'm too new to smoking to rate this cigar, but I can tell you it's one of my favorite short inexpensive smokes now and I like it a lot better than the camaroon wrapper special G (I keep comparing that one to the short story and...).
YMMV
