  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

These were boxed in the year 2000 and won off of CBid for $32 for a 10 ct. box.

I don't know what to think about this cigar...it's ok and leans towards being good...but it can't make up it's mind of what it wants to be.

It started off "churchill" strong, flavorful but not packing a punch. About an inch into it it started tasting nutty and almost floral but not bad. Now at about 2 1/2 inches into it it's picked up a little zing and starting taste some spice but it's a complete departure from what it started off at. I wouldn't be surprised if the ligero started at this point and had a seco/volado plug at the foot.

Aftertaste is a little on the mushroom side, Musty & smoky. Mostly because of the tar buildup at the head. I usually never get a tar build up on a cigar but clipping it off made it better.

All in all, I would say that it's a good $7-8 Churchill but I don't think that they were "cheap" when they were being made.
If you dance with the devil on CBid and get these for less than $5 a stick, it's worth it. Anymore than that (IMO) you're wasting your money.

You have got to love dancing with the devil and bidding on something you have never thought to or wouldn't have normally bought. I know it's happened to me. Hell just last night I won a box of La Aurora Cien Anos Beliscoso last night. It's not that I think they're not good. I just think the cost of La Aurora is high but I think I got a screaming deal at $244 for the box. It was a total impulse bid because I've never had any La Aurora cigars.

When they first came out just about all the sizes were in $200.00 range. It is a good cigar but was way overpriced. About a year ago they start showing up on sale and close outs. Even the Davidoff store in NY had a close out on these. I stocked up big time on these. You have to be careful now because CI has them be made for them now. Not the same blend and no age to speak of. If you can get any of the old one there are a steal on a very good cigar.

The ones we bought from CI were original and well aged, but that was a while ago.

I just got some One Off Perfectos off CI and they came with yellow cello so I don't think that they're new either. I'll see how they are in about 3 weeks or so.

The boxes are dated if I remember right.
