  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

sometimes, you get one of those rare occasions when you get to try something special. i never sought one of these out, nor did i think i'd ever even see one. but, if you hang around the right guys, especially the ones who hang around here, sometimes good things happen.
i promised to smoke this cigar, not just keep it. sunday was a nice day, had the house to myself and was watching tiger play in boppa wasch's back yard. i figured this was the time.
here's the victim..

it was in beautiful shape. the cello a little old, but what the hey!. clipped easily and the pre-light draw was very interesting. a little cool and damp, kind of like a basement, but not a musty one. one lined with cedar.
it lit nicely and needed one little touch up to even up, then off we go. the first third really surprised me. it was rich and flavorful and had that opus taste, but smoother. i was actually able to retrohale through the first third with no problem at all.

as i neared the middle, it opened up very well. a little more strength, but no bite at all. lots of rich smoke and an ash that did not want to go anywhere.

it just kept on this way. it was deep and earthy but never overpowering. the ash hung on like a rock, so i decided to let it stay as long as it wanted. it finally fell after a good couple of inches.

had to remove the band in order to finish this beauty. nubbed it to the quick. what a great, epic smoke.
i can never thank the gentleman from wisconsin enough. wade, you're a great brother!

Bob, great review! I'm glad you smoked it soon and didn't leave it in your humidor as long as I have. I've had a few so I was more than happy to share, glad you enjoyed it.

very cool review Bob! I am pretty surprised about the strength! I would have thought it to have much more spice or atleast a little harsher than that! It sounds like an AMAZING maduro! Nice work to Wade too!

honestly, i was expecting this big massive powerhouse too. but it was more what you might dream an aged opus could be. all the flavor but without that punch in the belly that opus can sometimes give you. smoooooooooooooooooooooth.
