  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Oriental heavy flakes?

Does anyone make an oriental heavy flake? I know there are plenty of blends out there that are "oriental" but they tend to have more of a predominant latakia presence. I am great with latakia but I feel it drowns out the oriental varietals normally. I know McClelland makes the oriental series but they are all just blended ribbon cut which is fine and enjoyable. I'm just tossing around the idea of making a more mild VA/Oriental plug with some of the dwindling baccy stockpile I have. I'd like to possibly grab a commercial example of it as a flake if such a thing exists with little to no latakia in the blend.

I have an older tin of this that I picked up on the cheap from a B&M that closed down. Like the reviews listed there, I did not detect any oriental flavors when smoking this and am surprised I see it for sale at smokingpipes.com. I thought it was no longer in production. A really tasty baccy with age though, but I wouldn't pay full price for it (about $15/50g).

I just picked up a tin at a local. Haven't cracked it yet.

Make sure you post up when you do! That is a special occaison smoke for me. It smokes well right out of the jar/tin with no dry time needed and mine is soft and fluffy as it burns. I love VA flakes and this one is way up there for me. Wish I had a clue how old mine was and am glad I got it for 50% off.

Will do. I so rarely grab my pipe over a cigar...but I hoard pipe tobacco. ..idk.
I am looking forward to this peticular blend though.
