  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Cigar: Original Release Opus X Perfecxion No.2 (6 3/8" x 52). This was released in 1995.

Cost: I am not sure. I bought it in a hard to find Fuente sampler from another BOTL.

Drink: Coca-Cola and then ice water

I saved this cigar for a special occasion. Yesterday I went to my High School alma mater (Elder High School) football game. Elder is ranked 4th in the United States and the team we played (East St. Louis Illinois) is ranked 10th in the United States. We stomped them last night. We won 49-28 :)

Appearance: This has a rosado wrapper. There are a couple slight wrapper tears that do not affect the smoking of the cigar at all. The wrapper is very, very, smooth. The cellophane is EXTREMELY yellow. It had a very old musty smell to it. I have never had a cigar where the cellophane is this yellow. The appearance gets a 10/10

Pre-Light: This was simly awesome. I clipped the cigar and when I took a draw, I picked up a wonder flavor. The flavor reminded me of cinnamon, ginger bread and graham crackers. I spent 10 minutes drawing on it before lighting it up. I did not want to light it because this was so delicious.

Construction: Held a decent ash. The ash was somewhat flaky. The draw was perfect. The cigar required only one touchup.

Taste of the cigar: This was the most complex cigar I have ever had. I picked up the following flavors: Cinnamon, Tea, Raisin, Pepper and Butterscotch. The smoke through the nose was not harsh at all.

Strength: This is a full bodied cigar. Normally I get a very strong nicotine buzz from Opus X's. I was not affected at all. I attribute this to the extensive age on it.

Summary: This was the best cigar I have had to date (started smoking in May 2008). I would I could find some more of these. I give it a 10/10.

Awesome review Brother !! I really enjoyed it. The cellophane discoloring is amazing and shows the age and I could only imagine its smell. 5 stars review bro and thinks for the photos

Nice. I have always heard that if you are going to some an OpusX, that it really needs to be aged to experiences all the complexities and little nuisances like you described. One day.....

I think it came to light at another forum that this cigar was not what it was purported to be.:shame:

Wow, amazing, Dan! What a great experience, and that cello is an cool site in and of itself! I've never pre-smoked a cigar for 10 minutes, that's something else. I'm happy for ya.

An aged Opus is a different animal than a fresh one - both very good & I'm glad you enjoyed this cigar. Sorry about your experience with this guy - apparently he ripped off a lot of good people. It's a shame.
