  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Yep, that time of the week again . Today I decided I'd try a cigar I picked up while I was at the JD event last weekend. It's their house cigar and I'm not sure what kind of tobacco is in it other than I believe it has a Corojo wrapper (I have another with a Connecticut wrapper so I'll review that one too when I get around to smoking it). This cigar looks to be a 6 x 50 or perhaps 52. The wrapper is a nice medium brown color and there are some veins present. There was also a small imperfection towards the cap, but it didn't effect the smoke.

There is a slightly sweet/floral tobacco aroma mixed with a little earth. Clipped the cap and it came off cleanly. Draw was just a touch tight, but should do alright and carried a nutty flavor. Toasted the foot and we're off.

Right away the flavors are mainly a nuttiness with a floral note and some slight coffee through the nose. The flavors are not that intense and I believe it's due to the tighter draw and lack of smoke output. The ash is a beautiful bright white color and is holding tight, but a bit flaky.

The draw finally started to open up some and with it the flavors have intensified.

The flavors have remained consistent through the 1/3 and into the 2/3. It's really shaping up to be a nice mild-medium flavorful smoke . The burn has been beautiful up to this point as well .

Into the 2/3 the floral died out a little and the coffee became more prominent. The nut flavor remained and some earth joined in. Overall it's a very nice profile. I wasn't able to finish the smoke as my kid woke up from his nap a little earlier than expected. While I was removing the band to store as a souvenir it removed part of the wrapper :sadstare:.

So the only issue I have is with the wrapper being stuck to the band and had I got the chance to finish the cigar, this could have been an issue. Other than that the flavors were great, the burn was superb. I'd liked to have had a little more smoke output at the beginning, but it wasn't bad and once the draw opened up things got better. I paid $7.00 and in my opinion that's a decent price. If you're ever in the area I'd say pick some up.

I believe these are Litto Gomez cigars, nice review.
No, this is incorrect. They are actually rolled in house, by Kevin Baxter. He has worked for Outlaw for years as a tobacconist, and few years back they sent him to Miami to get trained as a roller. Now he makes these for the stores. Someone posted a shot of him at his rolling table recently-he has a beard that's over a foot long.

As Bob said, all of the store sticks from other companies, sport that companies band as well.
