Here's a review I did of an unbanded cigar, later revealed as a Padilla Miami lancero.
Pros: great construction, nice mild flavors
Cons: flavor profile stayed consistent throughout. not enough smoke produced.
Pre-smoke
Scent of Wrapper: not sure. light hay smell
Scent at Foot: light woody smell, a bit grassy
Appearance: very pretty stick. only issue is the wrapper near the head cracked pretty horribly when I clipped it.
Wrapper: wrapper was a lighter brown color. Had a neat little pigtail cap. Veins were very small. The color was even an I didn't see any blemishes or spots.
Feel: Feel was very nice. Firm, but a bit of spring to it. Seemingly well constructed.
Tongue: A sweet, tingly flavor / sensation was noticed when I tasted the cute end.
Flavor on Draw: a bit woody. birch perhaps?
Smoke
Taste: initial puffs gave of a indistinct sweetness. I also noticed a distinct wood flavor, although I couldn't figure out what type. Every puff gave off a black pepper taste on the back of my tongue that lasted forever. Maybe a bit of a floral taste was there. All these flavors were noticed throughout the smoke, but each was stronger at different points.
Flavor Changes: the flavor was consistent throughout. no big flavor changes
Strength: i'd say this was a mild to medium bodied cigar. i probably could have inhaled it
Feeling: didn't catch a buzz from this cigar, but my tongue noticed the spice the cigar gave off. the "heat" lingered
Scent of Smoke: almost a cedary / sweet smell
Heat on Fingers and in Mouth: cigar got a bit hot to smoke with about 2" left. probably due to the small ring gauge. had to take smaller puffs.
Draw: draw was perfect, although i would have like a little more smoke with each pull
Finish: slight peppery finish. not too strong. enough to remind you that you smoked a cigar for a few hours.
Other Aspects of the Cigar Smoking Experience:
a. cigar lit up easily
b. nice white ash. broke off about every 1/2" which was annoying.
c. smoke not as dense as I liked, but it wasn't hateful
Final Rating: 7.6 - overall an enjoyable smoke. Howerer not too complex,
