A couple weeks ago Diesel and I were involved in a trade and he felt like he got the better end of the deal, so he ran me over (like the truck that he is) with an extra 5 sticks. A fine example of what being a BOTL is all about. He wanted to know what I thought of the sticks, so I thought I would post here for everyone's benefit (since my opinion is so f'n important).

Setting: I smoked this after a light dinner on my back patio (and after smoking a Tat Noella at lunch). Little to no wind and around 68 degrees.

Construction: A well-made, lovely, dark brown, toothy wrapper. Stick feels a bit dry with some minor wrapper damage. Draw was a little too loose as I clipped a little more than usual due to my eyesight getting worse.

Smoke: I smoked this one slower than normal due to the loose draw and it lasted over an hour. A ton of smoke and great flavor. Reminds me a little of the 1964, but a little rough around the edges. Rich tobacco, spice and earth flavors complemented by that Padron maduro (only a hint of chocolate) flavor. Not heavy and sweet like a lot of other maduros.

Cliff Notes: Despite it seeming a little dry and loose, I really enjoyed this stick, medium body/full flavor. I will be getting more of these and storing them for a year or two.

Funny you should write this review right now. This morning I cracked open a box of Padron 3K maddies that have been sealed in my humidor for the last four years. I had the cigar on the way home from work today and it was nothing short of fantastic. I've not had many Padrons in a while as I lost my taste for them...hence the box sitting for a while, but man, this was one great cigar.

The first Padron I ever smoked (earlier this year) I did not like. I was new to smoking, it was a natural wrapper and purchased in a head shop as opposed to a real cigar shop. Every one since then has been good, but until now I had only smoked the Annis, so I was real happy to revisit the regular Padron line and I will be smoking more in the future.

I smoke a lot of DPG stuff and really like the blues and Tats.

I had a JdN Antano and while full bodied, was not as full-flavored.

That 4 year old sounds fantastic!
