  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

i finally ponied up on a real cutter this holiday season, plain black palio (while switching over to beads too!). all told, totally pleased by and large. the things are impressive without being huge, the ergonomics are great (emergency gar rest!), and of course the cut has been damn good. most of the time.

i have had two or three cigars the blades just did not want to go through. had to use both hands. i am no gym rat, but i ain't THAT weak.

more frequently, about one in eight smokes cut have a little filler sticking up in a curve above the cut line. i have been trying to undo old habits, and go higher up on the shoulder to preserve the cap, but this just doesn't seem right.

how about it? i know palio has a LOT of fans here. similar experiences? critiques or suggestions?

Lifetime warranty....Any authorized dealer will replace it at no cost, no questions asked.
So if the problem (or part of the problem) is a dull blade, get a new one!

Make sure you're decisive in your cut. If you hesitate or your cut doesn't go smoothly through the cap then you can get a tag left over. Also if you're experiencing a lot of resistance to the cut your blades may need to be cleaned or they're not sharp or you're trying to cut through too much of the cigar. Unless it's a torpedo you should just be aiming to skim the top. You can clean the blades with some isopropyl alcohol and a Q-tip. If you still can't get it to work then you may want to take advantage of that guarantee they have .

Also... Try putting some pressure on the cigar by pressing it into the blades while cutting, so the blades aren't trying to push the cigar back out slightly.

I have found with mine, that I have to do a fairly quick snap to get it to go all the way through clean. I would definitely try the cleaning as stated above, if that doesn't work, then head over to an authorized dealer and have them deal with it.

I like to cup my hand around the cigar and let the cigar move freely within my hand while I cut with the other hand. Let's the cut go through how it wants to go through.

I also have one. the cutting seems fine but for a 50$ cutter (got the cf one) the.finishing touches could have been much better. There's allot of flashing left and some really not well deburred edges.
