  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Palio Warranty Question

Hello,

I've had the Palio cutter for about 4 years now. It's the best cutter I've ever owned. However it has loosened up from lots of use. When it was new, there were nubs that kept it closed. They wore down and it falls open. I'm afraid someone(me) will cut his finger off. Still cuts the cigars good though:cool:. I would like to exchange it. I know several people that purchased them recently. I noticed that mine is slimmer than the new ones that Palio makes. They are thicker and appear to be constructed better.

I cant remember which online retailer I originally purchased the cutter from. I attempted to return it to Cigars International in Bethlehem PA. They sell them on their website. A man in their brick and mortar store said they didn't sell them. When I called their 800 number, I got the same response. When I directed the associate to her company's website, she said they only sell them online. In any event, I was told that Cigars International does not recognize Palio's warranty even when I read her Palio's warranty statement. Their policy is 30 days and that's only if it's purchased directly from them. I emailed them and got the same response. Based on this, I don't think I will give Cigars International any more of my business. Rude people and poor service. When I purchase another cutter or lighter, it will definitely be from a small local shop. I sent an email to Palio yesterday about CI and am waiting for a response from them.

Other than Cigars International, I don't have another retailer close to where I live that sells these things. I'm near Easton, PA. Famous Cigar is close, but only sells Xikar. Does anyone know if there's an online retailer that will honor Pailo's warranty? I don't understand why Palio doesn't accept returns directly.

This is the exact reason I haven't purchased a Palio.
The only places I've seen them for sale are online, and if I can't get an immediate replacement it doesn't warrant the cost for me.

Warrant the cost? 35 bucks and cuts like butter. Over 4 years that he's had his that's like 75 cents a month and it still cost perfectly. Those plastic things you get give you a nasty cut and cost a buck (you can always keep a spare if your Palio is "in the shop") I've probably wasted more money not turning off my facet between brushing my teeth and spitting..

I own a new and old 1. IMO they changed something on the new ones. They cut good but not like the old ones from several years ago. Just my opinion.

+1

So much better than my XiKars, I have 2 Palios, 1 to use and 1 to lose.

Thanks for all the replys!

I just received an email from Cigars International. They apologized and advised me that since they just started selling Palio, the customer service department did not know how this particular warranty worked. They stated that they will get back to me about an exchange. I'm happy they are resolving this, because I like shopping there.

Ron, I checked out your site and love it. Your prices are excellent! Based on your offer to replace my cutter, I just placed an order with you for the Palio burl finish and a cigar caddy. I will be happy to have a second Palio in the arsenal. One will stay at the office! I really appreciate your offer to exchange my existing cutter, but I would like CI to honor this one.

Thank you very much!

P.S The new Palio cutters are definately thicker than the old ones. I noticed this when my father in law purchased his. The pouch is also slightly bigger. The emblems are identical. I will take a side by side pic and post it when I see him next.

The Palio was part off the first order I ever made from Ron. Great prices and pretty quick. Just like other people here, the reason I went to him first was because a while back I was looking a gift and he pointed me in the right direction even though he didn't sell the product himself.

I got the package and opened it to find a nice surprise. Thank you for the extra goodies!

The quality of the Cigar Caddy is amazing. For the price, I wasn't expecting much. This thing is solid! Wish I purchased it years ago. It will be with me on every trip I take going forward.
