I smoked one of these this morning. It is a nice robusto 5 X 50.
Palmas Puro teamed up with La Tradicion in 2006 to manufacture their line of cigars at the new Sanchez-Romay factory in the Dominican Republic. The Palmas Puro Maduro is medium-to-full flavored cigar. and features a blend of Domincan, Honduran, and Nicaraguan tobaccos. The wrapper is a toothy, Brazilian Arapiraca leaf. This is what the manufacture states as the description.
The pre-lit inspection revealed a medium dark Brazialian Arapiraca wrapper. Medium amount of veins, decent contruction. Some oiliness. Hints of dark roast coffee, some spice and chocolate. Taste was some spice, predominately pepper and cinnamon. The draw seemed to be unrestricted.
As I lit this, I toasted it and found it to light easily. Good draw and burn. Pepper, coffee and chocolate continued to come through. Slight change mid way through with the spice subsiding a bit. Remained a good amount of flavor though. There was no harsh aftertaste on the finish. Burnt well from start to finish and had a good draw throughout.
Overall, this was a good smoke, which I will defintiely smoke again. It is more mild than I am used to, but was enjoyable. Although it is a boutique cigar, it is not too pricy and would easily be an everyday smoke. Its a $4 - 5 cigar. I rate it a high 6, but could bump to a 7 with more age. Time will tell. I personally will be buying a few more.
