  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

As I said before, HERE, I received this cigar from a factory in Bavaro, which isn't well known. They have 3 cigars on their line, and I tried the "full" bodied one.

Specifics
Red-Label
Filler: Seco Dominicano / Nicaragua / Perú / Olor Dominicano
Binder: Criollo 98
Wrapper: Broadleaf Connecticut
Size: 4 3/4 x 52
This is the med-full bodied cigar of the line. It's supposed to be the best of them...Smoked it cold water.

Pre-Light
The cigar itself has a regular construction. Some soft spots, some veins, and some dents on the wrapper. The band was kinda stuck with the wrapper which i feared was gonna hurt the wrapper but it didn't. The pre-light draw revealed a raw tobacco taste and some sweetness.

1/3
At first, the cigar revealed a loose draw. Even though it had a loose draw, there was TONS of dense smoke after 3 draws (first 2 were little to no smoke). It had a STRONG pepper taste with a extremely long finish. It started burning really hot but then cooled down a bit. The ash was strong and stayed all the way through first third (more than an inch and a half).
Flavor-wise, wasn't that complex: sweet-tobacco with some earthly notes. Even burn (really good burn).

2/3
The pepper mellowed down and a leather taste appeared, still with some sweetness. Strong ash, even burn and a bit warmer than I usually like. Draw improved a bit, which means I was getting a lot more smoke.

3/3
The pepper came back with more intensity. It started burning really hot, which made me let it rest for a minute or more and then puff. Ash was still strong altho I noticed it was strong while on the cigar, but when it fell it became dust lol...flavor-wise, still leather and earthly sweetness, maybe some nut flavor (probably because of the temperature). The burn stayed even all the way.

Overall, It was a really good cigar, nothing spectacular or complex. I have 3 more, i'll have them age a bit on the humidor...I'm kinda eager to see what aging will do on them.

Would buy a box? No...probably a 5er only, and let them age.
