  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Greetings all.

I joined up a few months ago and have yet to get started posting. I figured what the hey, why not try my hand at a review?

If you find anything lacking in my review, by all means please correct me. I've completely ripped off the format from many of the reviews I've read here previously.

I received this particular stick in the commemorative humidor that was given out at Cigarfest 2010, which I attended with my good friend Dan (bigbwalls). I believe this cigar to be the Habano wrapper... but I have no way of knowing for sure. The tobacco itself is all Nicaraguan.

Pre-light
The cigar was built like a brick smokehouse: no flaws, smooth, smooth wrapper with only one small, slightly noticeable vein. Smelt of your run of the mill barnyard/tobacco mix, small hints of pepper. Pre-light draw was pleasant, more subtle notes of pepper. A promising introduction for a $5.50 cigar.

First Third
First few puffs displayed none of the pepper or spice I had hoped for from the pre-light. More sort of a grassy/mellow/dry vibe. Weird. Burn is nice, fairly even and the draw is perfect thus far.

Second Third
Nothing of any interest to note. Same exact flavors from the first puffs, only now the only vein on the wrapper has caused a fairly annoying run which required a few touch-ups. I am getting some hints of a more complex flavor on the very initial draw, but they disappear before they materialize. I'm unsure what to make of this smoke.

Final Third
Bored out of my mind! Luckily I was smoking with a friend and had some interesting conversation, otherwise I might have chucked it and called it a night. Two re-lights were needed after it snuffed itself for no apparent reason. The flavor really went nowhere.

Closing
A completely unremarkable mainstream offering from Perdomo. I was disappointed as I am a fan of many of Nick's other offerings. This one just did not float my boat.

Well thanks for the review, Derek.

I'll have to smoke the one I received and see if I have similar results.
