  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Wrapper: Connecticut shade (6 yr aged)
Filler/ Binder: Nicaraguan blend
Size: Robusto, 5"×54
Cost: $3.50
Overall strength: Just on the mild side of medium

I selected this nice looking robusto to enjoy after lunch today. It was covered with a light tan wrapper that was smooth and silky with almost no veins. The feel was solid, but with a touch of springiness. After punching the end it lit easily. The draw was somewhat tight at first, but this quickly loosened up to just a mild resistance and provided lots of thick, chewy smoke for the next hour. The flavors over the first third were creamy, cedary tobacco with some sweet spices (cinnamon, nutmeg).

Over the next third the spices became muted and were replaced by a coffee/mocha flavor, but the creaminess remained. During the final third, the flavors leaned mostly toward roasted nut, cedar and tobacco and the strength edged up a notch. Just past the band point (a bit over 1" left) the cigar was getting soft/soggy, the temp of the smoke was getting a bit warm and and the smoke volume decreased, so I put it down.

Overall this was a very enjoyable cigar. Smooth and creamy would describe it well. I was very surprised at the creaminess and lack of any peppery flavors at all. This was good for me though because I find that while I like a bit of spiciness, I dislike the strong black pepper flavors that seem to be popular of late. To me, this cigar reminded me of the original Mayorga line that came out in the mid-late 90's.

Mmmm. Sounds like a great cigar. I was so close to buying a fiver on Cigar Monster today. Now I wish I would have!

Thanks for the review brother
