So, the wife and I sat down last night and split one of these. She was drinking chardonnay and I was drinking Sam Adam's Summer Ale. Right out of the wrapper it had a nice leathery smell to it, and the wife thought it smelled a bit spicy. I cut it using my brand new Xikar (first cut, very nice), the pre-light draw was good and again hinted at the leathery taste.
The first third of the stick gave hints of leather and earthy tastes, very mellow overall. The draw wasn't as thick as I normally would like, but it was okay. Pretty enjoyable so far.
The second third it really started to open up. Its drawing much more to my liking now, but the flavor really hasn't changed. Maybe a tad bit more creamy now, but nothing too extraordinary.
The last third, stayed about the same, with the exception of maybe a hint of it getting hot. No real flavor change though.
Overall, the construction was okay, the wrapper developed a small tear about 2/3s of the way through, but nothing that took away from the enjoyment of the cigar, and the ash was just okay as well, it fell off sooner than I expected, but had a good color most of the way through.
This was a good cigar, and if you like a medium to thick draw, with not over-powering leather, earthy tone then this would be a good smoke. I want to pick up a couple more and let them age and then try them out.
